I don't know what's going on, but I'm having weird food cravings. Specifically for eggs. And not for eggy dishes, like egg salad, but straight up eggs. Fried or boiled. I actually dreamed about it. What the hell is going on? I could make a dish and add black salt, but I'm not sure that's going to satisfy it. Recipe ideas?
This is seriously the first time I've had such a craving in 6+ years. So weird.

You could try making something like scramble or omelet with some black salt, plus add something fatty to the mix.
I get cravings sometimes for animal proteins, such as chicken salad or steak. Normally having something that fulfills some of the nutrient quota fixes it for me.

I'm wondering if some polenta with some shredded Cheezly ad black salt might satisfy it. Might try tat later or for breakfast tomorrow.

oooh, that looks really neat rhelune. i might have to give that a try.
i get cravings for eggs too, pickledtreats - and i've been vegan for 5+ years. what i do is make a breakfast sammie. i pan-fry some thinly sliced tofu and season it with lots of black pepper and some black salt. i then put it on toast that's been smothered in earth balance and it's super yum with smashed avocado, too.

My craving is for a specific brand of marzipan. I've been thinking about it for months. Can't really get it around here, I suppose I could order some online.

i too have literally been craving cheese this entire past week. of course i will not eat any, but i've been dreaming of ooey gooey pizza with real cheese on it.
i have yet to cave and buy any fake cheeses, i've actually never bought or tasted any of them, and i fear i will be disappointed at how not-cheesey they taste.
and agreed, that yolk looks pretty realistic..... i might be tempted to try that recipe some time......

Instead of carrot juice I use yellow food colouring (carrot juice is not yellow enough when diluted). I add black salt only on top of it.

For the cheeze pizza craving, there's daiya and that's a little easier to cook with, but I always found the key with follow your heart and teese was moisture. Cheese pizza is pretty greasy - spray fake cheese with a little cooking spray and then drizzle the tiniest stream of olive oil over and around the pizza and it will come much closer.

You should totally order the vegg & make some kinda tofu fried egg. It makes such an awesome yolk & the pack lasts for ages if you just mix enough for a couple of yolks at a time.

Jojo, where did you order the Vegg in the UK? I want to get a few packets but I don't want to order outside the EU!

So is vegg just nooch and black salt? Could I make it myself or is it more than that?

I ordered it from Vegan Store. pickledtreats wrote: So is vegg just nooch and black salt? Could I make it myself or is it more than that? It's more than that. It has sodium alginate for texture and a couple of other things. It's eerily eggy!

Were you going in on the group order with Cornelie, pickledtreats? I just saw that they're selling the Vegg at Veggiedeli!

I've seen daiya at Earth Fare and I think at my grocery store. It's so pricey though! Maybe $6 for a bag?? I understand it's a unique product and probably made in small batches for quality control and things, but sadly, I can't really spend $6 on a bag of cheeze :( Wish I could!
