Wow, that looks complicated! I wanted to make it, but I don't think I want to buy a special pan to do it.

Yeah, at first I thought each polka dot was made of two hemispheres stuck together (which still requires a special pan, but a less specialist one), but then I realised the cake mould is clamped together and filled from the top.

Now I'm thinking about Louzilla's cookies http://louzilla.wordpress.com/2012/02/0 ... g-cookies/ and wondering how balls of coloured marzipan would work in cake. It would be very different, but stolen is cake with marzipan and that's good. Hmm. I suppose when you cut the slices the marzipan would squish so wouldn't get such a beautiful, clean polka dot effect, which is the whole point. I wonder if somewhere near here rents cake moulds for reasonable prices.

Marzipan is my favorite! This was actually an almond flavored cake!!
