Hold on to your hats, people. The people of Lay's are giving us a crucial heads-up:

That's right: soon.

Prepare accordingly.

I don't know. I was just so excited to learn they plan on changing what the bag looks like!

You know it doesn't explicitly say that... What if they're changing what the CHIPS look like?

That is pretty thoughtful, Lay's. Barbara's cereals (Puffins et al) have been changing their packaging like weekly and I'm so sick of getting blindsided every time I go to TJ's. It's a real emotional roller coaster.

You folks don't know how lucky you are. I'm still confused about cheese & onion flavour being blue while salt and vinegar are green on Walkers Crisps. Their colour schemes make no sense, and they never warn us about new packaging! On the other hand, they do say when they're using a new recipe, which is actually handy.

I was thrown by this just the other day. Everyone knows green means cheese and onion, but noooo.... Walkers has to be different.

But there are pictures of chips on the package...

Maybe everything is going to change!

Hrmth. I thought people were FINALLY talking about potato chips like my "perfect world PPK" would see, but no one has even mentioned the flavour to ridge ratio of competing brands or accidentally vegan mature cheddar crisps from England.

Additionally, I want to work in marketing for a chip brand.

If you start that thread I will be over right away!

"NEW Lays Baked potato crisps (in plain salted, barbeque, and sour cream and onion flavors are purely conceptual. They are delivered to you in a plexiglas cube engraved with pastoral country scenes on three sides and bleak post-industrial cityscapes on the others. The cube may be opened with a specially-shaped wrench, available separately. Within the cube you will find three sheets of paper, a handful of oats, and two small metal parts. The metal parts will vary from package to package; some will be from World War 2-vintage automobiles, while some will be from early 1900's children's toys. Small pebbles may also be included in some cubes, but these are an artifact of the manufacturing process and not a component of the chips themselves."

This drives me insane! It's like someone at Walkers woke up one day and just decide to make a random change for no reason other than to confuse the entire nation.

Right, so, I remember watching this Children's BBC programme years ago that was a bit like a consumer affairs show. Kinda like Watchdog and kids could complain about getting an out of date packet of Revels from the tuck shop and hey whatever happened to Tab Clear or whatever. Anyway, some kid wrote in and asked "whyohwhyohwhy are Walkers' salt n vinegar crisps in green packets?" They got someone in from Walkers to answer the kid and, I shiitake you not, their 'explanation' was that because they were in the Midlands they had no idea the sea was blue and associated with salt and therefore that people expected salt n vinegar crisps to be in blue packets as a result...

COUGHBOLLOCKSEXPLANATIONCOUGH, Walkers!

As long as they continue giving me adequate lead time, I'm fine with whatever.

That sounds amazing, but I'm worried that they'll increase their prices. I just don't know if I have room in my budget for conceptual potato chips.

I seen another teevee show (not for kids!) around the same time where crisps were used as somewhat of a prophylactic device. Well, not really, but kinda. Like, so, you're sharing a bed with someone you pure fancy, BUT NOTHING CAN HAPPEN, right? So you fill the middle of the bed with packets of crisps, eh? And then if one or other of you tries to make a wee move in the middle of the night... CRISPS POPPING AND CRUNCHING ERRRRWHERE!!

What was my point again? I have no clue.

This has been a public safety announcement on behalf of the crisps' lobby.
