 Post subject: How do you make the best popcorn ever?

We usually male the popcorn in oil on the stovetop, sprinkle with nooch & melt some EB and pour it on top. I have also made it in the microwave, sprayed it with oil and sprinkled nooch but that doesn't taste as good.

Either way most of the nooch sinks to the bottom.

I was thinking it would be better if I put the nooch in the food processor but I haven't tried it yet. Also it seems like a lot of you put other stuff on popcorn too.

How do YOU do it? What is your technique and favorite toppings?

I start with awesome popcorn from Rancho Gordo and microwave it in a paper bag. Then I put it in a bowl and melt EB. Then I toss the popcorn, and then I salt and nooch it. So I guess I nuke it and nooch it.

I also microwave it in a paper bag. I melt EB, add nooch, curry powder, and salt to the melted butter, and then toss it with the butter. It sticks really well to the popcorn.

I microwave it in a paper bag too, so much less hassle. Along with EB and nooch I also like to add cayenne, smoked paprika, or whatever sounds good at the time. I added rosemary, once.

I prefer my popcorn popped in oil on the stove top. I grind the salt and nooch in a mortar and pestle so that it's fine enough to stick on the popcorn. It's nice with some EB as well, but when the popcorn is popped in oil, it's not necessary.

Air popped with nooch, sriracha, and garlic powder mixed into some melted EB. My boyfriend will also make it with a sprinkle of soy sauce and sriracha, and I like that as well.

I pop it on the stove with popcorn oil with salt added. I add nooch if I have it (I know, its not so easy for me to get it).

I either air pop it or microwave it in a paper bag. I then add melted margarine, nooch and smoked garlic salt.

Air pop it, add melted EB then salt and nooch. Garlic has also been known to make an appearance. Just recently my partner suggested sprinkling some hot sauce on our popcorn. Haven't tried it yet though.

I like using an air popper because I am forgetful and suck at stovetop popcorn. I just learned to do it that way this summer, from an awesome 9 year old friend. He likes making "fluffy popcorn," which is when he puts dill, salt, nutritional yeast, and maybe garlic powder in a coffee grinder to make it not sink to the bottom. I also learned this summer to spray popcorn with a spray bottle of braggs or soy sauce before putting other seasonings on to get it to stick without having to douse the corns in oil.

I'm also a fan of adding thyme (though it can stick to your gums uncomfortable) or even better, zataar.

Zataar popcorn! A revelation! I'm a big fan of cajun spice mix + vegan marg + salt + nooch. I used to use tamari in the place of the salt, but it was pretty intense. I also have the issue of the nooch going to the bottom, but this pre-grinding idea sounds like a winner.

use oil that you previously fried something awesome in (eggplant parm, KFC tofu, etc). I put in 1T for 1/3c kernels. pop it up and sprinkle it with ajinomoto salt (MSG salt). more oil than i should be eating, but damn it's nice.

I do the Alton Brown microwave method and making with flavored oil can be fun. Except for the time I tried hot chili oil...don't do that.

I also just like salt and fresh ground pepper.

Ok so this "issue" everyone is having with the spices/nooch sticking to the bottom of the bowl....am I the only one who loves this? I love dragging my finger (or even an actual piece of popcorn) across the bottom of the bowl and getting a huge mouthful of noochy/spicy goodness!

i think stovetop popping makes all of the difference in the world. microwave popcorn just doesn't do it for me.

i prefer using coconut oil and just add salt. i'm a popcorn purist, i guess.

i use a whirly pop and either sprinkle Frank's sauce on it, orrrrr i use this 'french fry seasoning' i got at big lots a while back.

me, too. i like to take some popcorn, stick it to my tongue, and then drag it along the bottom of the popcorn bowl. i believe it picks up maximum awesomenesses this way. :D

I like to make the Joy of Vegan Baking caramel corn, but with brown rice syrup instead of corn syrup. Then I add in peanuts and sometimes chocolate chips.

That is a much better method than my food processor idea. I am always worried that I'll get nooch lung or something terrible when I accidentally take a whiff of it .

I don't like the nooch being all the bottom because I end up wasting a bunch. Even though I try to use the popcorn to scoop up each bit.

I want my popcorn to be like cheese popcorn but yellow!

I put EB, nooch and Sriracha in a ramekin and heat it up for about 30 seconds. Stir and pour over the popcorn. Perfection.

My husband is in to the cinnamon and sugar thing. I like EB melted and sea salt. And don't yell at me but I buy the 365 plain microwavable popcorn. Yes, I'm that lazy!

easiest kettle corn ever. 1/4 c. canola oil + 3 kernels of popcorn. When they pop, add 1/2 c. popcorn and 1/4 c. sugar and stir!! then cover and start shaking and shaking. salt the hell out of it when it's done. it's amazing.
