Is the cheese on the tofurky pizza daiya? It advertises that it melts so I always assumed....

Yeah, that is my primary problem. We have a vegan restaurant near us that used to have wonderful dairy free options but now they just add Daiya which I feel is a bit uncreative.

Yeah even as a GFer I totally understand where you guys are coming from wanting a gluten crust option. GF just often does not meet the expectations of a gluteny crust!

Give us something new! I bet they just do plain or pepperoni or something. Ham and pineapple?

But these duplicate products are just going to push others out of the market. Most supermarkets aren't going to add vegan pizzas to their lineup--they will just decide which to carry.

I'm pretty disappointed the reveal was pizza. I was hoping for feta or sour cream. I can make my own pizza easily enough. I can't make the other two! I mean I can, but they're not very good

The sound good. I still want feta. I've never liked any I've made. Also, fresh style buffalo mozzarella.

To be honest, I don't really care much what they taste like. I assume I'll like them because I like all daiya products so far, but what I'm really looking forward to has more to do with function than anything else. I just want something to be the glue in my paninis and sandwiches. The shreds fall off and get all over the place and the wedges can't really be cut into big, even slices.

I hated how the Daiya shreds always made a mess (or rather, how I always made a mess with them) but when the wedges came out I busted out my old cheese slicer and it totally works to make nice thin slices! I really like plain lazy "nachos" with just slices of the cheddar melted in the microwave over tortilla chips, using the slices for grilled cheese etc
hmm I guess there are different types of cheese slicers but I'm talking about this thing:

i don't want more frozen pizzas unless they are actually normal pizza sized. i'm always sad when i see the tiny little tofurky pizzas for $10 next to the $1 pizzas that are like twice the size.

This! The one time I bought one I brought the normal sized box home and out came this tiny little pizza. The box made it seem like I was getting a normal-sized pizza, but nope.

I'm with couroupita, for the price I can definitely make a way better pizza, but I would love me some feta that actually tasted like feta! Tofu feta has it's place and all, but it definitely doesn't fill the dairy feta void in my heart.

Daiya caters to more than just vegans -- they also have a food allergy market, which is probably why the pizza is GF.

Amy's rice crust is good...hopefully this will be too.

Yeah, I'm not a fan of Amy's rice crust. My husband, who isn't very picky at all told me when we tried it that he'd never want to eat it again and I don't know if he has ever said anything like that before about anything :)

Yes, Daiya is all about being free of the top food allergens. I doubt they'd make a gluteny crust

Yeah they definitely blew their load too soon with these announcements, clearly should have released the slices last. I'm excited for more options with the other two. I still haven't had a frozen vegan cheese pizza that I thought was worth its money.

The texture of melted Daiya leads to unfortunate associations with this phrase.

I have to echo the "pizza and cream cheese are the most meh reveals possible" sentiment. Now someone at daiya HQ start formulating me some delicious blue cheese and chevre, stat.

Does Tofutti still make frozen pizzas? I've heard they're good, but never saw them in stores. Also, if anyone knows any bloggers that are going to be at Natural Food Expo West, make sure they give this stuff a taste and blog about it. I need the deets on my swiss! And grill them on when I can get my hands on some.

yeah in Boston I see them at Shaw's and Stop and Shop. I do like those, I need to eat one again as it's been years since I've had one.

Tofutti frozen pizza reminds me of classic frozen pizza or something, like Stouffer's.
