agreed, i'm doing cookbook title and whoever participants can feel free to bend the rule as they see fit so they can participate ;)

also, I have over 50 books on the compiled list so far! For some of the book that just have 1 person recommending them, that particular book title might not make it to the final vote as poll code only allows 30 different options......

I saw your other comment below officially voting for 'sweet vegan' but i'm wondering if you want these other titles to be included on my compilation list??

Oh, no that's ok! I think you've had quite a few good recommendations already, and you're sure to get more. And if you include a free choice Isa & Terry week I will just do v'con. Plus, my other two books are kind of weird.

You could just put a tick next to each title for however many times it is suggested, then use the 30 with the most ticks.

yup, that is exactly what i'm doing :)

edited to add: out of over 50 titles on my list, only 23 have 2 or more votes.

I second this! I've cooked one thing from it and didn't like it, but I have hope. A lot of the recipes are budget friendly and quick too!

I also vote for "Fresh From The Vegan Slow Cooker"

I love this idea! I don't have that many cookbooks, so I'm just going to list them all.

~The 30 Minute Vegan's Taste of Europe
~AFR
~Cookin' Crunk
~The Vegan Slow Cooker
~Vegan Brunch
~Vegan Soul Kitchen
~Veganomicon

Since you're looking for more specifics, I listed Betty Goes Vegan and Vegan Eats World above, but I'd also like to do:

The 30 Minute Vegan's Taste of Europe
Vegan Sandwiches Save the Day
Cookin' Crunk
Plenty (Yolam Ottolenghi)
Quick and Easy Low-Cal Vegan Comfort Food
500 Vegan Recipes
The Urban Vegan
Fresh from the Vegan Slow Cooker

(but really, just about all my cookbooks could use some love)

In addition to the two books I've mentioned above, I also nominate these:

- The Inspired Vegan
- The Asian Vegan Kitchen
- Vegan with a Vengeance
- Vegan Brunch
- Color Me Vegan
- Viva Vegan

I don't use these often enough!

I second Plenty by Yolam Ottolenghi. I've had it for over a year and haven't made anything from it, eek!

I'll try my best to take part! I kind of flaked out on the last one.
I also like the idea of doing it by author, there's a few new ones I don't have (yet) and I wouldn't want to miss out.

I will do my best to take part! I'm going to try get my oven fixed before it starts because I miss baking and want to make the most of the books I have.

The books I have:

Babycakes
The Flying Apron
Going Raw
Practically Raw
Vegan Brunch
Vegan With a Vengeance
Appetite for Reduction
Chloe's Kitchen
Vegan Eats World

And I have V'con ordered. I will try order some of the other books that come up in the challenge so it will really push me to try some new things.

Just a suggestion since I've got 2 gluten free books and 2 raw books that are under-used but maybe a have a two week period that has the theme speciality diets/cook books. It leaves it a bit open for anyone that has any of the unusual books like raw, gluten free, sugar free, a weight loss type book (like appetite for reduction for example), books that cater for a strict budget, or cooking without power (like that unplugged book). It could include books that are specifically baking too. Probably most of those books only one or 2 members would actually have them but having that speciality cook book fortnight will get people motivated to using them.

Thanks, I will add your titles to this list.

The theme idea is a great one, so many different cookbook subjects in that idea! However, I plan to organize the upcoming cookbook challenge using specific cookbook titles. It is hard to please everyone. Perhaps the next cookbook challenge can be organized solely by author or by theme.

Oh sorry! Didn't read through the whole thread because I'm a lazy cow!
I'm on board anyway. It will motivate me to get the oven fixed and get some new cookbooks.

-Vegan Eats World
-Papa Tofu Loves Ethiopian Food (does this count?)
-Forks Over Knives Cookbook
-Vegan Diner

I have tons more, but those are the 3 that have been crying out to me from my cookbook shelf lately.

Papa Tofu is a zine right? There actually is a "zine" category so I will add a +1 to that category on my spreadsheet. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Sorry! I didn't see the post about a zine category, that's what I get for skimming a thread instead of actually reading.

update: I have over 68 cookbooks on the list, but only 36 of them have more than 1 vote.
Cookbooks in positions 1 - 15 have between 3 to 9 votes.
Cook books in spots 16 - 36 have 2 votes each.
And cookbooks in spots 37 - 68 have 1 vote each.

Because I'm using pollcode.com, I can only have 30 options for us to vote on. I definitely want to avoid having some kind of pre-voting on the cookbooks with only 2 votes where we do a tie breaking voting to determine part of the 30 spots. And then vote for real on our top 5, etc.....

Otherwise, to make things a bit simpler, when it's time to vote, for example, I might just use the cookbooks in positions 1 - 15 that have more than 3 votes a piece.

But it's only Friday, and things could change between now and Monday.

That sounds like a good idea to me.
