yeah Miracle Whip is a mayo-like sandwich spread.

some people like it better than mayo. it's sweeter and tangier

then there are those of us who think it's a complete abomination of nature.....

it appears to be made from the same stuff as mayo so i dunno what makes it taste so horrible

"While it contains mayo's key ingredients (egg, soybean oil, vinegar, water), Miracle Whip sets itself apart with a sweet, spicy flavor that some folks prefer. First introduced during the Depression, when its cheaper price made it alluring to people who couldn't afford more highfalutin mayo, it's now caught up, costing about the same amount per ounce as the real thing. At any price, Miracle Whip still has legions of devotees: According to Kraft, it's currently among the grocery industry's 20 top-selling brands. "

OMG. Just had my first spoonful of veganaise ever. It is amazing! Seriously, it tastes like real mayo. It's not that nayonaise is nasty (I gladly used the free jars they sent me to me) it's just that Veganaise is hands-down so much tastier. For reals. This vegan substitute tastes like the real thing.

i have yet to try veganaise but i did receive samples of of nasoya's three new mayos.

i don't know which kind of mayo my mom bought growing up but my hubby prefers duke's brand mayonaise (it's most likely a southern regional thing) i think that may be what his mom bought when he was growing up too. i don't recall using lots of mayo growing up unless it was on a turkey sandwich or in potato salad.

Yep, good ol' Duke's, I never saw another kind of mayo in my house growing up. You may want to try vegenaise for your husband, though. My sis is a die-hard Duke's girl, to the point that she won't get mayo in restaurants unless she knows it's Duke's, but she likes vegenaise. It's reminiscent of Duke's to me, as well.

ETA, well I see I'm late here and you've already gotten your hands on the stuff. But yeah, I love my vegenaise!

Veganaise makes so many things possible, like potato salad and creamy coleslaw.

And the reduced fat Vegenaise tastes as good or better. I start to panic if my jar gets to the 25% mark. That's actually what usually gets me to make the trek into Wegmans.

Okay, I saw this at my grocery store (holy shiitake) and decided to try it. Brian was watching with a look of abject horror as I dipped a fork in (how else am I supposed to really judge the taste?) and was telling him how it's supposed to be just like Miracle Whip. And my initial reaction was, "Oh my god, it DOES taste like Miracle Whip!" (even has the texture) and then I realized that specifically, it tastes like egg salad made with Miracle Whip. It has that boiled egg yolk taste. So I think i'm going to try it with some tofu and see how that goes, and some other stuff to see if I just keep tasting egg.

Has anyone else actually tried it? How many people did I just make dry heave?

No dry heaves here. I so want to try this! I grew up on Miracle Whip. I only discovered later in life what real mayo is supposed to taste like. My mom used to make the best tuna salad sandwiches with Miracle Whip. I'll have to see if I can order it online anywhere.

I'd like to try it, too.As a kid, mayo grossed me out, but I liked Miracle Whip. And do you remember that "sandwich spread?" It had pickle bits in it and was slightly pinky.orangey and tangy? That was good, too.

Now, like LisaPunk, I could (and do) eat vegan mayo with a spoon. But I find the mere idea of non-veg mayo absolutely stomach-flipping.

I bought mayo as an omni, but I'd use miracle whip at my dad's house, and it was alright. If it tastes anything like Nasoya's mayo though, yuck. That stuff is barely tolerable on a sandwich, but forget trying to make any type of sauce or dressing with it.

It does not taste anything like I remember the old school Nasoya tasting. Which was like...barf, right? All that's coming up (heh) is barf.
