This thread makes me sad because where I live now, there is only one type of kale available, and it is only available already minced in tiny pieces in a bag (apparently the Dutch only use kale in a certain type of soup) and it is one of my favorite foods.

That said, these days I keep it simple with kale. I simmer it in a little bit of vegetable broth and fresh garlic in a pan until it is about half cooked, then I eat about a whole pan of it to myself!

first i blanche the kale and drain. then i saute garlic, pinenuts and golden rasins in olive oil, then i add the kale and saute a bit more and add salt to taste. i just had that for dinner, last night.

kale with tempeh bacon sounds awesome.

the first time i ate raw kale salad i ate it daily for like 2 or 3 weeks.

kale on pizza is also awesome, btw.

i'm putting the vwav tahini sauce on mine, but i'm too lazy to saute garlic tonight, so, you know.

That's me. I'm currently on week 2 with no signs of stopping. I buy the pre-washed/cut up kale (three types in there) for $1.99 and go to town. The box makes about 5 enormous salads.

embarrassingly enough i've never actually steamed my kale before - i usually saute it. i was shocked how well it steamed up. even livi ate some! plain, of course.

I like to lightly saute it with onions and garlic, and then toss it with stone-ground mustard, soy sauce, and apple cider vinegar. It's also good braised with carrots.

And do love a nice kale poop. Sorry, TMI?

I love massaged kale salad too. I thought you had to use olive oil to massage it, though, although it looks like some of you just use lemon juice. Am I reading this right? Does it work like that? I hope so because one of the reasons I don't eat it more often is because I usually use quite a bit of oil. That and cutting it up takes a long time. I like it to be really tiny.

I really need to branch out with my kale. I always chop it up in super garlicky potato soup. I wanna try all your ideas!

I don't think anyone has mentioned it, but the Brazilian Kale from Viva Vegan is awesome. Something about chopping up the kale into little slivers is very satisfying. And hey, liquid smoke! Other than kale chips, this is probably my number one kale use.

I've done it both ways, but if definitely works without oil! I think I actually prefer it that way (I do add avocado though). I usually massage it with lemon juice and a little salt. Honestly, I'm not sure which thing helps break it down.

I've been lazy so I've been steaming kale for a few minutes then adding canned great northern beans and olive oil, cooking a little longer, adding some tamari and eating. It's yummy and only takes about 5 minutes.
