I think the best frozen vegan pizza I tried has been Flat Bread - but it is tiny and around $8...Way to much for not a lot of bang!

The Flat Bread pizza is really good. I buy 3 or 4 at a time when Giant puts them on half off, which they seem to do every few months--then they are only 4.50.

If I want to splurge on a trashy tasting old school cheezy pizza though, it's Tofutti all the way.

I wish I could still find the tofutti pizza. I used to like it, but it was the kind of thing you have to eat in your basement with the shades drawn so none of the health food vegans see, you know? It reminds me of my grade school's "deep dish" (though it wasn't) cheese pizza hot lunch that they restricted to once a month because it was actually edible. It has that greasy, "this isn't supposed to be good for you" feel to it that sometimes I just miss.

The last time I saw one for sale was in Connecticut in 2007, though, and when I moved back there last year it was gone from the store. *sniff* I don't think there are enough Jews out here to sell it...

ETA: before I get attacked, I mean that I think the Tofutti stuff is mostly marketed at a kosher market, not that I was implying anything antisemitic about selling pizza. Because reading over that afterwards it just sounded like I meant something I didn't.

You know, I thought that too, but then I bought one and it's totally delicious.

I agree. Amy's Roasted Veggie pizza is the best frozen pizza I've ever had. I also make my own using pita bread.

Very interesting. May have to treat myself some time!

I like buying the cheap vegan pizzas from TJs (rebranded Amy's cheeseless) and then adding some homemade cashew cheese and sausage (store bought sausage if I don't have time).

Still gross.

The mushroom is not quite as gross as the plain cheese, but its still pretty gross, and it gets grosser the more you eat. I baked it longer this time until the edges were almost burnt. This improved it slightly and it wasn't as gooey in the center, but the center of the pizza still has weird textural issues.

I've given these a fair shake. Now I want a damn Tofurkey pizza. I have cramps and mood swings and cravings and want pizza that isn't gross.

After these pizzas, I'm kind of scared to try the swiss and provolone slices since I've heard wildly mixed reviews.

Do you suppose they test marketed these pizzas? And if so, to who? Our completely unscientific poll here isn't looking too hot for them, and we are presumably their target market, right?

Do you happen to know if there actually is honey in the TJ's pizza roasted vegetable pizza? Amy's switched to agave years ago, but the label on the TJ's pizza still has honey in the ingredients.

If you want both gluten and dairy free, try Bold Pizza ( http://bold-organics.com )

I got a box free once from my work and it was pretty darn good. Good enough I would definitely consider buying it, but even though it's certainly less than $10 (it's 6/7/8 something like that) I still feel like that is pretty pricey for me. I liked it better than other regular with-gluten ones like Amy's.

PS, all their pizzas are dairy and gluten free, but not all are vegan. They have a meat one! Kinda odd, eh?

I thought Bold was OK. Pretty expensive for the size though. And I feel like this is the one that tricked me by being in a bigger box. I took it out and was like, that's it?

They changed the cheese on American Flatbread Co. This makes me the saddest ever, because it really was quite good.

I saw the Daiya pizzas at WFs and yeah I was tempted by mushroom pizza but then I remembered gluten free crust. Last gluten free crust pizza I bought (Amy's) almost ended my marriage (not really, but my husband never says anything bad about food for the most part and he said it was disgusting).

I only ate 1/3 rd of the mushroom pizza. Period + stressful Friday and I couldn't bring myself finish the small pizza! It got worse the more I ate.

Instead of being excited about Daiya having nice varieties, we should petition Tofurkey to expand their range.

I think its kind of a to each their own situation. I didnt hate the tofurky pizzas but I didnt love them either. And I dont like the Amys GF crust very much at all. So if Daiya wasnt 10 bucks I would buy them all the time. As long as I could get the cooking part right.

All this is making me want some old-school trashy Tofutti pizza. I may have to make that happen.

I've only ever had the vegetable one, but I definitely prefer it to tofurky. And we don't have tofutti ones, unfortunately. I think I'd like those.

How do you cook it so it doesn't burn to a crisp and/or end up gooey in the middle?

The middle was too melty, but it didn't ruin it or taste under/over cooked. If I hadn't done it on a cookie sheet it probably would have made a mess of the oven, though. I ended up taking it out earlier than it said to on the box.

Ok, I bought another one. Going to do it on my pizza stone at 450 and see how that goes. I shall report back!

This thread did prompt me to buy pizza ingredients and even being super lazy with a pre-made crust and using galaxy shreds instead because I'm not the biggest Daiya fan and the tofutti pizzas use galaxy :)

I did it! 450 for 15 minutes on a preheated pizza stone. Good as gold! I turned on the broiler at the last minute to make sure it was melty. I made the roasted veggie this time and I loved it!
