We’re planning to bring Igor bars to a Canada Day picnic July 1 and need some help selecting the vegan recipes for the layers. Because we have to canoe 2 hours to the picnic (and 2 portages), the bars need to be fairly solid and keep well with a few coldpacks.
Layer plan :
base is chocolate chip cookie bar
caramel with nuts
Rice Krispie bar layer
chocolate fudge layer or just melted chocolate
top with Peanut ButterCup bits or other Bon-Bons
Which vegan chocolate chip cookie recipe is more bar-like – not too crisp where the base would not crumble when cut ?
I can’t buy vegan caramels in my part of the forest so I need to make the caramel. Any recommendations on a caramel recipe ? Isa and Terry’s recipe for the caramel-pecan bars is wonderful but a bit too gooey for canoe transport.
Any recipe ideas for Rice Krispie bars but without vegan marshmallows?
Looking for ideas for the chocolate fudge/bon bon layer on the top. Melted chocolate would likely be more sturdy but less fancy. I’m tired of the “vegans only eat rabbit food” bs comments so the WOW factor is an important design consideration here.
