I'm having a small-ish apartment-warming party at mine and my boyfriend's place (we're both vegan) and I'm looking for some food ideas to serve at the party. There will be about 10-12 people over and I'd like to have a fair amount of snacks/buffet-style food out for people to eat without serving a full meal or anything. I would like to serve things that are easy to snack on while sitting around, and also some items that people can help themselves to from the dining table area.

I'm looking for good ideas because I'd like to impress my friends (and my boyfriend's friends that I don't know very well!) with some delicious vegan food! I also need some gluten-free ideas as one of my friends can't eat gluten and I'd like to have some options for her as well.

I'm also looking to put out a few baked goods, too! I'll probably bake some cookies or brownies, but if you have an extra special recipe you'd like to share, that would be great!

So far, I think I'm going to serve:
- potato salad
- quinoa/chickpea salad
- some sort of pasta dish? (maybe with brown rice pasta for my friend)
- some sort of bread...garlic bread?

- veggies
- fruit
- hummus on crackers (I might pre-make them right before serving...I was at a wedding on the weekend where they served hummus on crackers pre-scooped onto the crackers and it was less messy than having it out as a dip!)
- chips or tortillas?

- baked goods

Any help would definitely be appreciated! Thanks!

Maybe a salad, just mixed greens and some veggies. Guacamole.

If your friend is gluten free i'd be careful with putting out stuff people would dip into other stuff, cross contaminates can really get to some people. But there's lots of gluten free chip options, corn chips, or sweet potato chips. Which are really good with hummus and would give an extra gluten free food to your spread.

Maybe a veggie salad, like a string beans, or broccoli.

On the gluten-free baking front, both the fudge brownies and pb blondies from vctoycj work perfectly with king arthur gluten free flour mix in place of the flour.

Guacamole and salsa
Hummus and/or other bean dips
Bruschetta
Individual quiches (see Fat Free Vegan - she has a recipe)
Individual baked mac and cheese
Pigs in blankets made with crescent roll dough (no good for the gluten free) and cut up soydogs, served with mustard
Baked or fried corn tortilla taquitos with refried beans and cheeze

All that stuff can be made in advance and is good at room temp

super simple, but looks fancy......fruit kabobs. Poke them in a melon or something so they look all spikey. Fresh fruit is also a good counterpoint to any heavier foods you may serve.

Also simple, but looks fancy, are chocolate dipped cookies / dried apricots.

And I totally second the crescent roll pigs-in-blankets!

we served the crescent roll ups before but used Tofurky Italian links instead of veggie dogs! Yummy!

Thank you everyone for your great ideas! I am going to look into donig those crescent rollups with the soydogs! I'm definitely going to serve lots of fresh fruit, veggies and hummus, 3 different salads (pesto quinoa with roasted tomatoes, potato salad, and a Thai peanut noodle salad), then I'll probably have some chips & salsa, and I found some frozen cookie dough and brownie mix by Sweets From the Earth that is vegan and gluten-free...so I will just throw those in the oven shortly before hand so I don't have to worry too much about baking on top of cooking stuff! :)

I think almost everything I serve will be gluten-free so I won't have to worry too much about cross-contamination, but definitely something to be mindful of - wouldn't want my friend to accidentally ingest any gluten!

Mini stuffed mushrooms. Use button mushrooms, which are affordable and bite-sized. You can make a whole bunch so everyone can have a few. They're super easy too. You just pop the stems off the mushrooms, brush with oil, prepare the filling and spoon it into the mushroom cavities, then put all of them on a baking sheet in the oven for a bit, and they're done! Usually a hit with everyone unless they're dirty mushroom-haters. Good luck!
