I'm making treats for my family and friends this year and putting them in pretty gable boxes. I've never done this before, and I'm worried that it's going to take awhile! Here's my criteria: - Freezer-friendly cookie dough
- Will last a few days at room temperature (no one wants stale cookies!)
- Holiday-appropriate flavors are the best
- Prefer drop cookies and bars, not roll-and-cut sugar cookie types (I don't even own a cookie cutter)
Can anyone recommend recipes or tips? I have these cookbooks to reference: - VCIYCJ
- VCTOTW
- Vcon
- VWAV
- Yellow Rose Recipes (can't remember what desserts are in there)
- Vegan Girl's Guide to Life
Thanks! I've been looking through VCTOTW VCIYCJ this morning and I want to make allllll of them. I can't believe I've had this cookbook for nearly a year and I've only made a couple recipes!

The Rumnog Pecan cookies from Veganomicon sound like they would be winners for you! Seasonal flavor, and I thought these actually tasted better the day after making them.

I'm going to put in a vote for biscotti! I've made the chocolate hazelnut (?) ones from Veganomicon, and also the green tea walnut biscotti from VCIYCJ and both freeze beautifully after they are baked. They also will last a few days at room temp after thawing. Maybe not the most seasonal flavors, although the green tea would look pretty! There is also a recipe for gingerbread biscotti in VCIYCJ that would probably fit the bill - haven't tried the recipe yet, but it looks yummy!

Last year I made cranberry pistachio biscotti, gingerbread cupcakes in a jar and mini soynog loaves. They all held up pretty well, I just told people to keep the cupcakes refrigerated if they weren't planning on eating them right away.

I recommend the blackstrap gingersnaps from VCIYCJ, but I see you don't have that book :(.

Thanks for all the recommendations, everyone! Oo okay! I thought maybe that was it, since the title mentioned cookies, but I didn't want to assume! These gingersnaps are so yummy, and ginger just seems very holiday-like to me!

You NEED VCIYCJ. Need. Every cookie, bar, and brownie I baked last year was a winner*. The extended omni family cannot stop raving about last Christmas (I probably baked at least 7+ dozen cookies, lemon bars, fig bars, cream cheese brownies, and others), and they are eagerly anticipating this year- everything was made from VCIYCJ.
*(Unless I tried to screw with the recipe, then I take full responsibility for any failure. When I follow recipes how they are written, they turn out fantastic!)

The snowflake cookies are great, but messy because of the powdered sugar. We loved the Mexican hot chocolate snicker doodles. And the biscotti is always nice.
eta oh, these are all from VCTOYCJ
