Our Whole Foods finally had the Kite Hill yogurts in stock! I just had the peach one and it was really good!

The blueberry Silk yogurt is reminding me of something, but I can't put my finger on it. Like a cheap candy flavor or something I don't know... Maybe it's just this one container because I can't imagine them all tasting like this.

Just tried my first Daiya yogurt (strawberry)! I thought it was really good. No complaints. Didn't detect any objectionable aftertaste. I would eat this as often as I ate WholeSoy. Which was often.

I really like the texture of the Daiya Greek Style yogurt, but I thought there was a weird aftertaste too :( and they are expensive. Meh.

I actually like the Silk ok, its just a bit sweet for me. and super duper expensive everywhere.

I'd just like to take a moment to defend Nancy's. I was a devoted fan of the WholeSoy plain, and I've found that Nancy's is a good stand in so long as I blend it. I've been making yogurt sauces and frozen fruit smoothies, and blending it gets rid of the grainy texture. If anything, I'm better off now buying Nancy's instead of WholeSoy because the graininess prevents me from eating whole containers in mere seconds as soon as I get home from the store.

The Daiya yogurts haven't appeared in my local stores, but I'll stick with the Nancy's anyhow because I refuse to buy yogurt in 5.3 oz servings.

I'm starting to find the texture of the Daiya a little gluey and gloppy.

I finally tried the Kite Hill vanilla. It was alright! If it was cheaper, I'd buy it often. But it's not, so I won't. Blah.

we still haven't seen the daiya yogurt anywhere, but h-dawg came home from whole foods with two flavors of the kite hill yesterday (strawberry and vanilla). finally!! he tried one of the vanilla today, and said he liked it, but that it might be soupier than i prefer. we shall see!

I bought all the Kite Hill flavors. I've had the strawberry and peach so far, and I absolutely love them. They're the closest to dairy yogurt that I've had as a vegan. I'd have them all the time if the sugar content wasn't so high (15g added sugar per serving).

They're so good! I like them more than dairy yogurt because they have this custard-like quality. But as a poor college student I can't afford getting them all the time like I'd want haha.

and 15g is low for most vegan yogurts out there, lower than whole soy for sure. but yeah, it's still a lot for some people on a daily basis. they are really good though!

I didn't like the kite hill at all! My expectations were high though. I can't believe I like daiya more.

I just tried Nancy's soy yogurt (plain, blueberry, and strawberry), and I was nervous since a lot of people on this thread don't seem to think highly of it. However, I was very pleasantly surprised and thought they were all delightful! Certainly not as a good as Whole Soy, but after going >1 year without soy yogurt, Nancy's is a happy replacement.

I keep looking for kite hill or daiya yogurt just to try but no go. I'm happy with my yogurt making abilities but once in a while I'd like a back up just in case.

I was at a local Heath food grocery chain....and found three new vegan yogurts there. Three!

I got this one in plain
http://livingharvest.com/original-hemp-yogurt/

I plan on trying it tomorrow with some fruit and granola. I hope is tart.

I like the nutritional value a lot; 10g of protien, and not too bad on the sugar/fat/carbs either. I'm almost scared to try it and be disappointed. I miss a decent plain yogurt for cooking, and one with a decent nutritional profile for breakfast, which of course tastes good! Daiya and so delicious taste meh, hardly any protein, and way too much sugar for me.

Sad to report that I don't really like the Hemp Plain yogurt very much.

The good: Love the nutritional content, and it smells/tastes a bit hemp-y, which I actually like

But it is SUPER DUPER sweet. Like really sweet. I am having a hard time eating it with fruit. And it is kinda brown looking and gritty.

Bummed, hoped it would be nice and tart and i could use it for cooking and breakfast with fruit. Coconut yogurt tastes good, but no protein.

I know there's all kinds of drama about Silk soy yogurt's "journey," but I saw tubs of plain Silk at my grocery store yesterday and thought folks would want to know.

Whoa. I used to really like it before it went away. I wonder if the recipe is the same.

our Whole Foods is discontinuing Nancy's, I wonder if that means they'll bring in either the soy plain tubs or daiya/kite hill.

On another note, I figured out how to make really thick yogurt cheese.

We went on a trip and I decided to freeze the yogurt I had while we were gone. I defrosted it but it was extremely separated. So I decided to run it through a nut milk bag and voila, super thick yogurt cheese, thicker than any greek yogurt I've ever had.

(The yogurt recipe I use is 3/4 cup cashews, soaked in soy milk and blended in just enough soy milk until smooth, then blended with rest of soy milk. I use about 4 cups of soy milk total)

I had a lovely dream this week that I won the billion dollar lottery, bought the Whole Soy recipe, and brought it back from the dead!

it was a very nice dream. I woke up hungry.

Oooh, I'll be on the lookout!

I gave up on my soft boycott of Silk. I figure it's like how some makeup companies claim clearly vegan products are not, just to play it safe. Until I find hard evidence to avoid it, I'm just DONE living a life without yogurt.

Vanilla bean is my favorite, but I have to get it from Walmart. The fave at the store I actually shop at is the peach mango. Mmm.

I helped on of my clients move and one of the things she was tossing was a yogurt maker so I took it. Unfortunately it doesn't have instructions with it so I'm hoping I can come up with them online.

Can you make yogurt in a slow cooker?
