PSA: I tried Nancy's. It's gross. Hopefully I'll get around to baking with it before it goes bad, because I bought a big container.

It's seriously so gross. I don't even know how it exists and competes with the other kinds. Like, when WholeSoy is around, how does Nancy's even exist?? Are there seriously people who prefer it?

When the WholeSoy comes back I'm going to spend like $50 on yogurt.

I finally gave in and tried the new silk yogurt. It's ridiculously sweet. I should have just had a glass of chocolate milk.

Nancy's had, like, single giant containers of unflavored "cultured soy" (they don't even call it yogurt) before WholeSoy vanished. I think the new flavors are a direct response to that-- there's a whole in the market for soy yogurt, and Nancy's wanted to fill it.

But I bet they go away just as fast when WholeSoy comes back. Let's hope so, anyway.

Every time this thread comes up it raises my hopes that Whole Soy is back.

They're supposed to start production in November, aren't they? I wonder how long it will be before it hits shelves.

They have a thing on their blog (the same post I linked to earlier) where you can send them the name and address of your local stores so they can, I guess, let the stores know the yogurt is available again? It seems like a useful thing to do.

This seems kinda weird. As a large company, they must have a record of the stores they distributed to pre-shutdown.

I keep checking this thread to see if there have been any yogurt sightings.

All it brings me is sadness.

maybe they are concerned that the stores have moved on and found other products to fill that niche. it might be like sending out a reminder to those stores, like hey, we're back up and running, buy our stuff ;)

Yea, but what I mean is that, as a company, they should be doing that themselves, and not relying on their customers to hook them up with names & addresses of stores. But maybe this is about new stores?

Yeah, I'm afraid they won't get the shelf space back. That fake Greek Yogurt that is so en vogue right now is like a steadily advancing enemy line.

I saw one kind of Nancy's at Wegmans last time, but didn't get any because I'm afraid of it after all I've heard about it.

I think its about gauging demand so that the places that want it the most get the first shipments, or so they can point at the demand in certain areas and get the shelf space back?

Companies actually usually pay grocery stores for shelf space, so they may have limited funds for distribution and want to make sure it goes where it should so they can rebuild their funds and things. I have no idea how WholeSoy as a company has survived three months or longer without any product to ship.

agreed, i am concerned as well. maybe they get private donations? i have no idea.

i have no idea how my earth fare is going to make room for whole soy, they gained new dairy based yogurts and i don't even know where they would fit the whole soy if the earth fare corporation chooses to carry it again. i *think* my earth fare carries silk brand in a different part of the store, not sure, so they might not need to fill the soy yogurt niche if they already have another brand.

My store now carries Yoso coconut yoghurt. That and So Delicious coconut. What I like about the Yoso is that the unsweetened is truly unsweetened, it has only 1 mg of sugar vs 8 mg of the So Delicious. The downside to that is that it tastes very coconutty, not suitable for cheese making! Otherwise it is very delicious. Only comes in unsweetened, chocolate and vanilla. The chocolate is VERY rich.

I tried the Silk "Fruity & Creamy" yogurt last night. I don't remember liking Silk yogurt much in the past, but this was actually pretty good. A bit too sweet, so its more like a dessert-- but still pretty good. But I will never buy it again once WholeSoy comes back.

I tried a Nancy's blackberry flavor yesterday and I actually quite liked it.

I got excited to see a plain yogurt at Wegman's that I bought the Nancy's and it is disgusting. I had to risk it but ugh.

earthfare has nancy brand and silk soy yogurt brand now. don't want to try either one. the clerk at earth fare said as far as he knows they are NOT going to restock whole soy since they now have 2 soy yogurts they sell :(

now i can see why the whole soy peeps are wanting fans to give info about their stores and stuff where they used to buy it. because also the clerk guy just thought the whole soy plant closed down permanently :( either way, earth fare makes the decisions at corporate level and not on a store by store basis. sigh.

perhaps once i know whole soy is up and running and actually shipping yogurt to stores, i will ask again and find out if earth fare will for reals get it back on their shelves.

I tried Nancy's the other night against everyone's advice and it tasted...uh...carbonated. I assume that means it went off but it was traumatizing enough that I'm not going to email the company about it. So gross.
