I want to buy the bigger cheap jar of almond butter, but there's no way I'd use it up within 4 months or so. How long would it typically last?

About a week, in my house...

More seriously, it keeps for a while. Make sure it's kept sealed and somewhere cool and dark and it that will help it stay good.

If the weather's really warm where you are, I'd consider keeping it in the fridge to stop it going rancid. A giant tub of rancid nut butter is one of the saddest things ever.

I keep it in the fridge and it lasts forever in there!

I also keep mine in the fridge. I've never had it go bad.

I didn't know people kept nut butter around long enough for it to go bad...

They do when they use six different kinds of nut butters at the same time.

I realize I have peanut, almond, almond-hazelnut, sunflower, pumpkin seed and sesame butters in my fridge right now. (None of them is going bad, but I buy the smallest jars).

I read somewhere that nut butters usually keep for 1 month though... that is way to short!
