I had baked beans in one, and apple and peanut butter in another today. Any other favourites out there? Vegan cheese is fine but not quite right in a Toastie somehow...

How about a sweet one like blueberry pie filling and cream cheese? I've never had a toastie so I'm not sure how that would be.

Oh my poor loves! You haven't lived!

http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sandwich_toaster

It's a toasted sandwich- the maker seals the edges, toasts the outside and heats/melts the inside. Mostly cheese based but not necessarily.

Gotcha, I would be doing vegan lunchmeat & cheeses with mustard and mayo out the wazoo! But peanut butter and fluff would be good too.

Hummus, avocado & tomato
Eggplant, spinach, sundried tomatoes, and balsamic vinegar with some caramelized onions
Tempeh bacon, lettuce, tomato, mayo
Baked tofu with some sauted veggies and a dressing or spread

I mean it's a sandwich maker, skies the limit!

I like cheezly mozzarella with a teeny bit of oregano and some thinly sliced tomato - it's like a pizza!
Also, peanut butter & nooch.
Or peanut butter and cheese.
Or peanut butter & chocolate.

oh I wish I still had my Breville, I want a toastie now!

Mashed potato, finely chopped onion and a thin spread of marmite or other yeast extract of choice. My all-time favourite toastie. Chocolate and cherry jam for dessert.

I'd never thought of putting nooch with PB. At first it sounded gross (no offense), but yeah, kinda like those cheese crackers with PB inside. Gotta try. Thanks!

Leftover chips and hot sauce. So dirty, so good.

SERIOUS

Edam cheezly with mushroom and Branston's. Want so bad.

I used to have a flat-mate who made cheese and maple-syrup toasties. So wrong.

Like a chip butty but different. A chip butty is generally soft white bread and hot fresh chips, and probably butter too traditionally (because there's not enough fat in chips, right?), although for me I'd have no butter and chips doused in salt and malt vinegar. There might be some ketchup in there for some people?

My toasty would be like a zombie chip butty, I guess.

chip toastie?? GENIUS. Throw some cheese in that shiitake and I think it'd be a massive sandwich win.

Vegan haggis and baked beans! Best toastie I've ever had! No need to pre-cook anything either.

I used to eat a lot of jam and pb toasties as a child, as well as jam with slices of apple. You just have to remember to let it cool for a bit, because the jam will come at you like a tiny volcanic eruption of hot molten sugar and it WILL burn you.
