In vegan brunch, for the chelsea waffles, is there a sub you can use for the barley malt syrup? i have all the other ingredients and a new waffle iron and want to try this recipe without having to go to the store! Thanks!

you can just leave it out or sub some brown rice syrup, maple or agave or whatever. it just won't tasty malted, but they are still good. i've done it a number of times.

Definitely pick up some barley malt syrup next time you're at the store and make them again. The maltiness takes them to another level!

I use brown rice syrup, maple, and/or agave. They are still delicious. I make these more than any other waffle.

Yeah, I've totally been making these using brown rice syrup too and they turn out great. I figure brown rice syrup is a little richer than maple and I'm throwing maple on them anyways so its nice to have a different flavor going on in there. I've really got to pick up some barley malt though and try them with it, I'll bet their even better with it.
