I don't know if "fads" is the best word because I don't mean fad diets or anything (just to clear that up). I tend to go through phases of getting really, really into one particular food and eating it all the time and wondered if other people did the same.

My current food fad is crumpets. I actually don't think it would be possible to eat too many crumpets right now. I try to limit myself to breakfast and snacks though!

I call them "food obsessions". Right now mine is Treeline hard cheese on crackers. I only have it once a week or so because who can afford to buy that cheese every other day? A few weeks ago, my boyfriend and I were losing our shiitake over Gardein's new fishless filets. Amy E's caramel cashew bars and Indianlife's masala and samosa chips are my longest-running food obsessions of late, though I'm quite restrained with them right now.

ever since the resuscitation of the discussion of Esme's sauce, we have been having it constantly. i've been healthying it up- whole grain pasta or just grains, lots of greens, but it is awesome. except when i use vinegar instead of mustard, ack.

A Russian friend introduced me to buckwheat with unrefined sunflower oil... I've been through several bags of it this month. I even like it better than quinoa, and the nutrition is similar too.

Avocado pesto pasta (a variation on the recipe in Chloe's Kitchen). And I've eaten the same tempeh wrap for lunch every day for like 4 weeks now, so I guess that counts.

Black beans. I like black beans most of the time but right now if I come across a recipe with black beans it's all I want.

Gimme this.

Summer is here so fresh herbs are on my mind. In particular, salads with fresh herbs, greens, beans, and fruit, like the famous black bean and quinoa salad. http://www.theppk.com/2010/04/quinoa-sa ... ans-mango/

(Before anyone starts thinking I'm super healthy, my first answer was potato chips.)

Anybody following the Salad Samurai thread knows that my mom and I have been obsessive about the 70s tofu recipe. It's basically just tofu marinated in tamari and paprika and it's just about the best thing ever. We plan to do things with it like salads and sandwiches and then just eat it out of the fridge.

Between us we have probably eaten 5 lbs of the stuff in the past 2 weeks. (Eating some now as I type this. We had a moratorium on tofu this weekend, but when I came home from work today, there it was on the counter.)

Molly likes it too--she is eating some of mine and making happy cheepy yummy food noises. Not amused that I shooed her away because it's too salty for her.

Right now, I could eat (and have been) pesto hummus and vegan dad's vegan mom tofu scramble every day. Tofu scramble and salad is my go to dinner all the time now. Oh and roasted red pepper tahini dressing.

I was on the hugest kick of tofu scramble. This went on for months and then all of a sudden I was eating it the other and was just like, "I don't like this anymore" and haven't craved it since. My body is so weird.

This sounds great! I'm always too busy making VWAV scramble to try any others.

I was never super in to tofu scramble until very recently, and thought myself a bizarro vegan. I dunno, I just started liking it! I like vegan mom's recipe too, with some lemon and maybe black salt.

There's a really amazing local fresh tofu producer here and all I want to eat ever is tofu. I'm also really in to Japanese sweet potatoes. Every time I bake one I'm transported back to grocery stores in Japan where they have them roasting in the produce department ready to make your belly warm and happy.

This is exactly how I am with foods. I'll be obsessed with something for months, then never touch it again for years. Right now I'm fixated on So Delicious' chocolate ice cream. Eating a carton a day, nomnomonom.

I'm on an oatmeal kick right now. Which isn't super weird for me, but I'm like extra into it and fall asleep thinking about what I'll put in/on it in the morning.

Wraps! I finally found vegan wraps here and have been going a little crazy. Most store-bought tortillas here have dodgy (possibly animal-derived) e-numbers so I was really excited to find a Turkish brand of 100% plant-based durum wraps, and have been making wraps pretty much every day for lunch! Plus, they're nice and big so I can fill them quite well and they'll still close.

Wraps with salad greens, ramson tofu, and lemon-tahini sauce, wraps with arugula and a tofu waldorf salad, wraps with hummus and veggie gyros. Wraps wraps wraps!

Could you tell me how you prepare it? I have just been able to get buckwheat again and all i know how to do is sprout it.

I've been eating a lot of baked oatmeal. Sometimes for two meals a day.

Buckwheat stir-fries are awesome, too--can use it very similarly to rice.

I can't believe I forgot to mention Vegg yolk. I have been eating nothing but Vegg yolk and toast for breakfast for weeks and weeks. Sometimes I also eat it for lunch. I keep thinking I'm going to get sick of it, but I haven't yet.

mashed avocado, nooch, sprouts, scallions, and sriracha on mestemacher muesli rye. that's been my lunch every day for about a month.
