Uhoh. The chocolate dipped macaroon recipe calls for silken extra firm tofu, but all I have is non-silken types. (couldn't find mori nu at the store!)

I have extra firm, firm, and soft (!) non-silken tofu - can I use one of these instead?

I would think you could sub regular extra firm tofu for the silken. I have done it in other recipes and they worked out okay.

OK. Thanks momo. I'm about to try it, we'll see how it goes!

i'd probably use the soft non silken actually. extra firm won't blend up as nicely, i don't think and you may end up with discernable tofu pieces.

Whoops, too late. I used extra firm, but they seem ok. I never made this recipe before, so I'm not sure how they should come out, and they're not exactly like macaroons that I remember. But they taste good (surprisingly light!) & I don't think there are any tofu bits.
