I've heard vegan, and I've heard not vegan. I was planning on making something with these tonight, but have never had them. Any input would be AMAZING! Thanks!!

Last I heard they had added DATEM, so I stopped buying them because I do not know what the fork that is

I've heard that the mystery ingredient Fee mentioned, can be from vegan source or can be animal derived (or an animal by-product or whatever) and that's why I avoid them.

Someone on another site recently contacted the company and was told that they don't contain any animal ingredients or derivitives. Vegan!

Trans fats make me sad. The Western Family ones are without but I can't find them out here in WA. WA? More like Wahhh! We would eat them with jelly filling or chocolate for au pan chocolat.

Whoa! I'm glad I opened this thread. I thought DATEM was always animal sourced.

I just made some yesterday. Turns out my cat loves them! She is never interested in anything that I eat but something about the smell of these made her ravenous so I gave her a few pieces. She wanted more and more and after she finished eating she kept sniffing around for more. Weird.

These are one of my favorite accidentally vegan junk food type stuffs to keep around.
And in case anyone doesn't know, they make fantastic lazy cinnamon rolls: unroll the tube of crescent dough, but don't pull apart the triangles. Melt EB and brush it over the dough. Sprinkle cinnamon and sugar over that, roll it up, cut it, and bake it.

The issue before was with their DATEM, I think, which is one of those pesky ingredients that can be animal or plant-based, and you never know until you ask what kind is being used. I remember reading that they used to use both animal and plant-sourced DATEM and could not be certain as to which type would end up in any individual packet of crescent rolls. The info in this thread is more recent, and I hope they stick with plant-based ingredients only from here on out!

These things are such a guilty pleasure. I usually bake them up instead of making biscuits when I want biscuits and gravy.
