Not sure if this is the right sub-forum to post this in.

Is anyone else up for another cookbook challenge? There have been loads of new ones out, plus I'm sure there are plenty of recipes we haven't made from the golden oldies. I'm keen to have a structured way to get through some of my cookbooks, and I found the last cookbook challenge to be super helpful in that respect. How 'bout it?

I haven't participated in one before, but I'm interested! I was thinking about cooking my way through Appetite for Reduction...

Agh! We're just about to do a recipe challenge on vegweb-vegnews and vegtimes recipes first..then maybe an ingredient one. I can't do a cookbook challenge at the same time!

I'd be up for one! I didn't participate in the last one, but I know there's tons of recipes I really should get around to making.

Does anyone remember how we voted for books in the last one? I thought it worked really well.

Anyone want to explain exactly what a cookbook challenge is? I tried searching it and only this thread came up.

It sounds interesting, I'd probably be down.

Every week people try and cook 2 pr 3 recipes from that weeks chosen cookbook and talks about what they made and posts pictures and what not. If you don't have the book you can either find recipes online, order it from the library, or sit out that week.

I didn't do it last time but I have been thinking about it a lot lately. I think last time everyone just posted what cookbooks they wanted to use and then whichever ones got the most mentions got added. I could be wrong though, there might have been a vote.

My dream list would be
Appetite for Reduction
Viva Vegan
Vegan Substitutions
500 vegan recipes
American Vegan Kitchen
Vegan Soul Kitchen
The Vegan Girl's Guide to Life
Yellow Rose Recipes

Oh, sorry! The first cookbook challenge was on the old boards. The aim is to cook 3+ recipes from each cookbook, which changes weekly, and post our results. We chose based on the books we had most access to (so, naturally, Isa and Terry's books were at the top). I think we did 12 books last time. Not everyone did every week, and there were one or two weeks where we could do any book by a particular author (I think they were Dreena Burton and Sarah Kramer, since most of us had at least one of their books but not necessarily the one on the list).

AC compiled everyone's comments so everyone could see which recipes were winners and which were just kinda meh. It was really good fun, and we got through a lot of recipes. I don't think I've used any of my cookbooks that much since then (except when Viva Vegan! came out)!

ETA - Cross post!

ETA 2 - Yeah, we voted on the books last time. Someone compiled a list, and we went through them based on which had the most votes.

This sounds fun! Unfortunately, I feel my cookbook collection is pretty limited:

VWAV
AFR
Caribbean Vegan
1,000 Vegan Recipes
Vegan on the Cheap
The Kind Diet

i'm in! i'm trying to do weekly meal planning, so i'm cooking out of my cookbooks anyway. i'm down for participating with the ones i have, but i don't have many of the new ones (like AFR, i KNOW!...but i might buy it soon anyway). this week i'm cooking out of 30 minute vegan because i've owned it for months but haven't cooked a single thing out of it.

I'm also super limited on my cookbook selection: V'con, VV, Asian Vegan Kitchen... haha, I wasn't joking! But I'd totally be down for anything. I could try and find what recipes I could scrap from the internetz or books I could get from the library.

This sounds like it would be a ton of fun!

I am down for one. Let's all post lists of what we have and then go from the ones that we have in common?
