I read that just blending granulated sugar with starch will yield powdered sugar, but I can't find where I read it!

Could anyone provide the type of starch and the proportions of sugar to starch?

Thank you!

Here's a link with some instructions and proportions. I think I've seen cornstarch used (in one of Sarah Kramer's books).

I've done this quite a few times and I can never get it smooth and fluffy enough; it always maintains some grit no matter how long I blend. Usually works well enough in things that aren't frosting though!

Use a magic bullet if you have one. They work wonders! I ground up some xylitol to make sugar free shortbread and it worked so well! I didn't even add any cornstarch.

I wish a had a magic bullet! My regular old blender didn't really get the right consistency. I had to sell-out and get Dominoes sugar. Good thing the cupcakes were for a friend and not me!
