I'm making the crimson velveteen cupcakes with cream cheese frosting from VCTOTW. Do these need to be stored in the fridge after frosting? Thanks!

I would say they don't need to be but it couldn't hurt.

just store them in a tin or under plastic wrap at room temperature. they'll be fine for several days, maybe even a week. i find that refrigerating cake tends to make it a bit tough.

I always refrigerate my cupcakes after frosting. The trick is to let them get back up to room temp before eating.

Yes. Store in an airtight container that will not touch and therefore remove the frosting. They will last days, if you don't eat them by then. Refrigeration negatively impacts cake texture, even after the cake comes back to room temp. Of course, if refrigerated cake is all there is, I will eat it.

I think with cream cheese frosting you should refrigerate if they are going to be out longer than a day. Or if you think they aren't going to all get eaten quickly, refrigerate them. I agree with letting them get to room temp before serving them if you can even wait that long.

I often keep the frosting and cupcake separate if the icing needs to be refrigerated. Then I have non-toxic icing and non tough cake. It's a bit of a pain but works.

I made the crimson velveteen cupcakes, the batter was very runny. They are so moist and spongy the red keeps bleeding out of the cupcakes, the bottom of them turn your hand ( and bottom of pan red). Any suggestions? They taste good but a bit too squishy, even though they are done.
