Who did the seitan roulades in the red wine sauce? Was that from Hezbollah Tofu? I want that.

Anything in a red wine sauce seems fancy to me though. Red wine and shallots. What the hell else do you need?

My fancy-pants go to recipe is Golden Lentil Roulade with Chestnut Stuffing. The end result is fragile and you need to be careful to move it as few times as possible - eg baking pan to plate.

I'm not a fancy cook, but I have come up with a pretty bangin' french lentil shepherd's pie with roasted garlic mashed potatoes and a shallot and wine gravy for the lentils and veggies.

So I am contrary, but...This made me remember Isa's trattoria pasta salad from Appetite for Reduction. It has sun dried tomatoes and is just a pasta salad, but it is a super fancy pasta salad to blow everyone's socks off. You could easily serve this as part of a fancy dinner party or brunch menu.

I made this for the vegan side of my family one Thanksgiving a couple years ago and it was a hit! Loved it. I don't think I'd ever made something so fancy-pants before.

you don't to have invented it. i guess i was just looking for ideas!

i think the roasted chanterelle salad from a4r is fancier than the salad, if only they were in season.
i guess i said no pasta as a play on that infamous thread.
