Woohoo!! We recently started making our own kombucha. We usually just add ginger, but we decided to try out some other options. We added a few frozen blueberries to one...it was freaking amazing. This may be my favorite yet!

Still to taste....blackberry, lemon

I've never added fruits, but I do love adding ginger and mint!

Right on!

So as a homebrewer, I'm curious. Did you guys use a culture from a bottle of synergy or some other kombucha or did you let it go "wild"? Did you use a glass jug or plastic? I'm totally addicted to kombucha and have wanted to brew my own for a while. :)

Same questions! I'm dying to try to make my own and save some money, and also to make flavors I like better.

Lavender-lemon is where it's at.

I don't make it anymore, but during the summer I started my own using a bottle of store-bought kombucha as the first base (the kind that comes with bits of culture floating around in it) and it was super-easy to make! I think I used this site as a reference: http://users.sa.chariot.net.au/~dna/kombucha.htm

After reading about your using blueberries I had to try it myself. Just tasted my batch and it was awesome!! Thanks for the tip.

We grew our mother scoby from a bottle of GT Kombucha. I found instructions on the internet.

I don't remember the exact measurements, but it was a bottle of Kombucha, sugar and tea. Put in a glass jar and cover with cheeseclothe and a rubberband (so it can breathe, but not let the buggies get it).

Took a few weeks, but now we can make a batch every week.

We grew our own scoby, now we have several to use, since each time we brew we grow another scoby. We use a big glass jar from a jar of artichokes that we bought at Costco. Any large, glass container will do.

Look on the internet. Lots of good instructions and videos are out there.

I used to be a Kombucha making junkie (on the old boards my sub-nick was "baby scoby"). I moved across country and got rid of my scobys and lost interest. I do love Kombucha, though. And blueberry sounds amazing. I wonder if there is any blueberry bottled Kombucha?

After the Kombucha "brews" for about a week, I strain it, bottle it, put in additions and put cap on bottle. Leave out for about 3 days and then refrigerate. Enjoy cold!

Oregon Kombucha sells kombucha starter kits and they have a blueberry flavor! I've been looking into making my own kombucha too and since my co-op has these kits I think I'll buy one, and blueberry seems like the best flavor option. I wish they carried the coconut and strawberry ones though!

I haven't seen any around here, but who knows. I just started making my own because it was so darn expensive to buy all the time.
