I want one, preferably a cheap one. Anyone have favored brands, estimated price range?

Sorry, I love my Kuhn Rikon. But not cheap :( I got a set on mega sale (re: $50) I think during either a black friday or cyber monday deal.

Yeah I love my Kuhn Rikon but it is pricey. It was a very generous birthday gift from family for me.

word to the wise and dont take this the wrong way but cheap and pressure cooker do not go hand in hand esp if you want something safe
I have a SEB for around 180 euros and it should last me for most of my life. There is about 7 built in safety features. It is strong and easy to use. Look at it as an investment and you can use it everyday even to bake cake.I was like you and wanted a cheap one because I wanted to save but a pressure cooker is nothing to go cheap on like a baking pan. It is best to save up for something good as the cheap ones tend to burn your food!

The price range for the cheap ones are 40 to 60 usd ..I think one is called presto or something but it is very flimsy.

I love my Fagor pressure cooker! It was about $160 so kinda spendy but it has totally been worth it. I haven't learned to can stuff yet but I have used it a ton for cooking beans--it cooks beans in about 8 minutes! I would recommend getting at least a Fagor if you can't afford the more expensive brands. Also try to get as large of a cooker as you can, at least 6 quart so you can cook more stuff in it! I think, as far as pressure cookers go, more expensive actually does mean better quality, unlike almost everything else :) Good luck!

I love my Fagor and you can find decent prices if you look. Avoid aluminum.

LOVE my Fagor, not that I've tried any other. It has truly defined my ability to make beans and risotto...
