i'll leave the brand name out, but i recently bought a different variety of what i thought was a vegan snack bar. however i see camauba wax (carnuba?) in the ingredient list. i thought this was ground up bugs! that odd ingredient that makes jelly beans and candies shiny and smooth. please tell me i'm mistaken because i'd love to eat my snack bar!

the camauba wax is listed as a sub-ingredient for one of the ingredients on the list.....

Confectioner's glaze is more similar to honey, it's not ground up bugs, it's a secretion. I always get confused with the carnauba wax too.

confectioner's glaze is also called lac resin, and there is a type of confectioner's glaze that is vegan. they might list that on the package as zein or confectioner's glaze. the only way to be 100% sure is to contact the company.

Good to know. I'll have to contact whatever company made my current bottle of sprinkles and find out if they're buggy ones or not...
