Hi everyone,
I was just browsing at the grocery store and spied pesto paste. There was no mention of dairy in the ingredients, is this vegan?
Anyone ever use it, I'm not sure what it is?
Thanks,
Sue
pesto is an italian basil paste that you can eat mixed into pasta, stirred into soups, spread on toast, etc. traditionally it is made with basil, garlic, salt, olive oil, pinenuts and parmesan cheese. you can make it vegan, but often in the store it contains cheese. it is expensive to buy, but really easy and affordable to make--especially if you use a different nut in place of the pinenuts.
