Let's say you were getting an opportunity to design a vegan menu for a bar with an excellent beer selection. What would you insist that the food menu include?

Hmmm, some snacks I like with good beer:
A plate with nuts and olives and yummy pickled things Battered/fried green beans are also really, really good Really good french fries with some options for dipping sauces (I make roasted potato wedges with aioli made with vegenaise, sometimes I put capers in it, really good with beer) Stuffed or marinated mushrooms Something like the spanakopita in VWaV, in little triangles, would be tasty. Crispy roasted chickpeas You can't really go wrong with awesomely-topped popcorn (smoked paprika + nooch + olive oil + salt!)
I've fantasized about this before. I would love to open a bar with fancy vegan bar food and a really great beer selection.

Jalapeno poppers!
Also, it is an unlikely suspect, but I LOVE edamame with beer.

With good beer . . . black-eyed pea salsa and guacamole with blue corn chips spiced mixed nuts a plate of little bowls of cherry tomatoes/oil-cured olives/cornichons/seasonal pickled vegetable focaccia with sun-dried tomatoes, olives, and pine-nuts, or potato-rosemary focaccia, or sage-olive focaccia TLT with Vegenaise on ww, avo optional, chips, pickle potato skins with (cheddar daiya or FYH)shiitake bacon, Tofutti sour cream, green onion, and smoked paprika (I also like the good fries idea) really good soft pretzels and mustard marinated tofu and veggie satay with peanut sauce veggie burger, optional caramelized onions and sauteed mushrooms roasted seasonal vegetables with pumpkinseed oil
That was fun!

I agree that edamame is great, and a good potato-y dish is a must, even if it's just really good chips/fries (but the potato skins sound good!) I also love chilli-marinated olives or similar, and something good and bread-y with a super-flavoursome dip or topping, like pide or pita with za'atar or dukkah or guac or olive pate. Marinated/grilled mushrooms would be very welcome, too.

There is someone who posts food porn here (technically the old board) and it's always bar food and one time I went to the blog and it sounds like that...but I can't remember the user name. VHH? Something like that.

I'd do a lot of what the bye & bye offers - like bbq or southern (noochy) tofu cubes and grilled cheese (with fixins). I like when bars offer options that are appealing to both drinkers & non-drinks - just as easily ordered for dinner. grilled cheese with fixin's savoury tofu cubes nachos tacos sometimes the vegan happy hour blog hurts my head/stomach (usually in a good way, at the same time): http://www.veganhappyhour.com/

Now this is my kind of thread! I'm going to have to agree with all of the above plus add on pizza if nobody has so far. It's my favorite beer drinking food. The best bar menu is a large bar menu. Who knows what cravings may come?

are you really doing this? I seem to remember a vegan bar food thread on the old boards and since then I have fantasized about opening a vegan bar.
everyone has great suggestions, I would gain about 200 pounds if this was reality though
