Okayyyy, that one word has done it. Wearing knickers is a very good idea.

Heh, I'd lend you mine but I doubt you'd want to use it if you knew where it's been.

Ha, right? And I'd be most interested in it for bikini line work... so maybe icky all around.

going to try making my own tendskin to combat the bumps, but is it really necessary to dissolve the aspirin in alcohol and in the witch hazel then combine the two bottles? Can't I just throw everything in one bottle to start?

yeah I just throw them all together at the start, it seems to work just fine.

Okayyy, so I tried using an epilator today, and I love it and I definitely want one! My legs are super smooth, and it didn't hurt at all.
What bothers me a bit is that my overly sensitive skin still seems to be irritated - I have lots of tiny red spots where the hairs were pulled out. Does anyone have a similar problem and can recommend something that will soothe my skin so this doesn't happen again?

Keep some aloe vera in the fridge and slap it on after, don't use any perfumed products or hot showers/baths for a couple of days.

Thanks fezza. Hot showers or baths won't be a problem - my flat is a total hothouse in summer, so I'll keep the water as cold as possible.
Totally getting me some aloe, like right now. <3

ETA: Some epilators come with a glove that's like a cool pack (or where you can insert a cool pack). Will this help, or is this just to numb everything down so it's less "painful"??
(Ooh, I'm such a nOOb!)

Do you wax? This sounds like what my skin does right after waxing--within a day or two there's no redness at all. It will probably be gone.

So you liked the epilator experience? I am still so intrigued.

Nope, I've never waxed, just shaved. I tried a chemical hair remover once, but that was hell. (My poor skin!)
Hope the dots will go away fast, I'm attending a wedding on the weekend (and I'm so not going to wear stockings)!
Yes, totally liked the epilator experience. I don't know how it would feel if I did my pits, but I hardly felt anything on my legs. It was almost like a massage, no kidding.

I did a tiny patch on my leg and it hurt like shiitake. I have hollywood waxes and I think this hurt more than that. But maybe it's just because I usually just shave my lower legs and don't wax them. I'll try and pluck up the courage to do both legs at the weekend.

I had a cool pack one and I never used it. Tbh it felt like it closed the pores up and made the epilating more painful (I like to do it after a warm bath or shower so the pores are open). I think you'd be better applying a cool pack straight after, or even showering your legs with cool water for a couple of minutes.

I'll totally try that next time. Actually, I walked to work right after. 30-45 minutes through hellfire heat. I bet that didn't help soothe my skin either. ;P
(But then I didn't really think I needed any actual soothing, since it didn't hurt at all. Well, my skin seems to disagree. Another lesson learned.)

I have, but I think it was irritating my sensitive skin and causing acne. I bought a home IPL machine, have only used it once and don't know if it's going to be any good or not, I suspect not sadly.

I have. I've got five or six black hairs on my chin that it took care of, no irritation, but my skin isn't really that sensitive.

I say this every time I see someone mention epilators but how do you use them? I have tried it in the past and it was the most painful thing I have ever experienced! I really wanted to love it but it was so awful!

You're not a wimp, it can be a form of torture until you get used to it.
