Are probiotics the best way to combat the nausea and other, ah, shall we say, unpleasantness associated with taking gigantic goddamn amoxicillin horse pills? I've still got many many days to go on this course and it's already brutal.

Ask for anti-nausea meds if it's really severe. They make you very sleepy, but work magic if nausea is debilitating.

Ginger tea helps combat nausea. it is a little spicy but the effect is well worth the tea. Also i find that munching on saltines is good for nausea too.

Is it possible to get another antibiotic instead? I always have to ask for non-amoxicillin, since that stuff doesn't just make me nauseous, it keeps me hovering miserably over the toilet retching for hours, and my doctors have never had a problem with just prescribing a different one.

In my experience, probiotics, or yogurt-like things with live cultures.

Usually when I've been on massive antibiotics, I've had a bad day or two at the start and then it calms down a bit. So if you just started it, give it a day or two to see if your innards get themselves sorted out. If not, ask your doctor for something else.

I tried ginger tea and it worked! I'm feeling better--probably the traveling I had to do in the middle of the first few days of the course didn't help much. Thanks everybody!! <3
