I think my husband had his first after a really traumatic event and he's had a few since then, but not more than 3 or 4 total in like 2 years?

I think it's possible that Amerge might be the migraine med for me! Migranol has been not working very well and making me feel sick lately, but so far so good with Amerge...(I mean it's been like an hour so far, we'll see) too bad I'm losing my health insurance in three weeks. I'll try to get a refill before then though.

I'm glad Amerge works for you! It was equivalent to taking Tic-Tacs for me, so I'm glad it at least works for others.

It seems like my skullcap tincture is helping these last two days.

I'm glad you found something! Sorry about losing the insurance - if you tell your doc they might be helpful - either a max # of pills, or samples.

just wondering if anybody here has 'progressive' lenses? I just got a pair (going from no glasses to glasses) and I'm consistently getting some of the worst migraines after wearing them for only 15 mins! I know there are 'rules' to adapting to the progressive lenses and I'm keeping them in mind as I wear them, but I'm just wondering if I should just give them up and switch to no-line bifocals instead? man... it sucks to get old. :-\

I have to reread one of my migraine books. I don't seem to be getting auras any more? That seems weird. It's been awhile w/o them, but it seems so weird that they'd stop that I was in denial.

Ugh. Went to sleep w/ migraine because I didn't want to take my meds for the 4th day in a row. Woke up at 4:50am today in horrible pain and remembered rubbing my head in sleep. Took meds. It used to be sleeping fixed a migraine. Not anymore, apparently.

reading my newer headache book since I can't find my favorite . . .

just found out about SUNCT headaches, and I wonder, because I do get brief stabbing pains in my left temple. http://www.ninds.nih.gov/disorders/sunct/sunct.htm

Had a migraine on and off since Thursday night. I think its partially heat caused but could be part hormones and part stress. Bah.

Oh yeah it's so freaking hot. The heat was the basis of mine, plust I had my period. Had migraines 4 out of the last 5 days. Yesterday I didn't get one but today feels bad already. Also, I refused to leave the house until 6pm yesterday, so . . .

Feel better 8ball!!

i recently realized i haven't been to my neurologist since last july or august. whoops. got the referral put in and the first avail appt is 8/22, but i took 8/26 since the kid will be at school. i think maybe i'll get off the pamelor, because it doesn't seem to help anymore. i have to rein in this headache. oof.

I got bored yesterday, and for the first time in farfarfar too long decided to see if science/medicine has anything new to say for me, and I stumbled on https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_daily ... t_headache which seems to have gained more and more traction in the last few years.

I'm not a doctor, obviously, but this gives me some kind of hope that maybe there's a diagnosis for me, and thus some avenues for treatment. however, the treatment options I've started reading about seem a) full of side effects, b) so varied that it's a dart vs dartboard situation to find what works

THAT SAID. the idea of waking up not in pain one day is..well..forking exciting. I'm not holding my breath, but I *am* crossing my fingers :)

joshua, I hope you feel better soon! It's always nice to read something possibly happy-making.

I've been having mild migraine symptoms on and off for two days now. I know it's stress from the insane summer school french class I'm taking right now (7,5 hours a day in class + 3 hours of prep at home for next day), but I can't really do anything about it, because I have to finish this class. Ugh. So stressed. I just know that when this is over (august 7) I will get a major major migraine and be in bed for like 4 days.

Right now I'm just hoping I won't get one before the 7th.

Can you drink more water or caffeinate regularly maybe? I hope you can avoid it. (the pain, not the class, of course)

Woke up with a migraine, killed it with 2 excedrin (have had too many triptans lately). was fine but then we went to a 3D movie. ugh.

So, 4 am this morning I woke up with an eye stabbing migraine. Took a sumatriptan, went to bed, had to take another one around 9.30 am and it kind of works. I managed to bike home and to do some vacuum cleaning, but still not feeling super awesome. I have to read most of the day though, as I cannot fall behind in class. Wrote my teacher an email about the situation, so I hope she understands that I am not just lazy. I already used up all of my sick days. Ugh. It stresses me out and that is definitely not good for the migraine. On the plus side, two of my friends are picking me up later so we can drive around on the countryside for a while! I hope I don't have to cancel, I really really don't want to - I've been looking forward to that all week!

I will definitely try to caffeinate regularly! Going to drink a cup of coffee right now :)

Oh I hate the ones that wake me up - ugh. It used to be when I went to sleep with a migraine (if I'd recently medicated a few migraines and didn't want to medicate another one) I would wake up okay, but not the last few times I'd tried. I had one I drugged at like 4 or 5am the other day and then at 8am when I got up I was okay, but now they're recurring same day too. I take my triptan (relpax) with 2 aleve (naproxen).

I like to double fist - one warm coffee in one hand, one ice water in the other hand. Good luck!!

It just got worse, and I've already taken 3 50mg sumatriptans today, so I guess they're not working. Although the stabbing eye pain (my usual symptom) is gone, now it just feels like my brain is achey all around. I really hate the nausea as well. At least I finished off my homework, so I can stay in bed for the rest of the day.

I hate this heat wave right now.

I just bought a magnesium supplement. It seems like a lot of people have had good results with magnesium supplementation! Keeping my fingers crossed that this will help.

My sumatriptan seems to be working now, btw. SO happy.

Last week was killer, but the heat wave took a break finally and now its only 75 in my house rather than 90 like it was last week. Finally I can relax. Tomorrow is my doctor's appointment to refill my migraine meds, which thankfully work for me (sumatriptan). Any questions I should ask when I'm there? My boyfriend wants me to ask to get a cat scan making sure my migraines are not as a result of some tumour, but I think that could be overkill? or not?
