Thank you guys! I am glad to hear it worked for your boyfriend blondiefk - the nurse did warn me about bad dreams, but I think I can put up with that if it works.

I started the Champix about three weeks ago, stopped smoking a week later and am now on day 13 smoke-free. Apart from vivid dreams (but not nightmares thankfully), the only other side effect I've had is UNBELIEVABLE flatulence. The practice nurse assures me this will subside in a couple of weeks - I sincerely hope so, otherwise I may have no friends left.

So impressed with all you quitters, keep going with it, you are going to be so glad you stuck it out!

I used to smoke quite heavily (20 - 35 a day) and I LOVED smoking, I thought I would never be able to quit, and I had heard so many people tell me that they always felt like something was missing after they quit.

I quit smoking 8 years ago, just having the occasional cigarette (with booze) until two years ago when I stopped completely. I don't miss it in the slightest and I am SO HAPPY I quit. Would recommend.

I started smoking again when I got out of the hospital and so far nothing has worked. Wellbutrin doesn't work, I'm not able to take Chantix, the patches aren't helping. While researching antidepressants I saw Pamelor can help so I'm going to ask my doctor about that. But we're adding an SSRI and I'm already on trazodone so I don't know if I'll be able to add a third antidepressant, even if they are all for different things. People in AA have been telling me to wait and give it time but cigarettes are expensive!

I have now gone twenty-one weeks without a cigarette. I am starting to think I might actually be able to do this long-term.

Thank you everyone! I had been smoking for over thirty years, so it feels like a big deal.
