It's spring over here, and the allergies have started to hit me...lots of sneezing, runny nose-ing, and itchy eye-ing. Anyone have any good herbal remedies for this? I hear nettle is supposed to be quite good for that sort of thing, am trying to find some at the moment. Anybody have any luck with this or anything else?

A neti pot can help relieve congestion. Beyond that, I have to rely on several allergy meds and I'm still suffering, but would be worse without them. I've heard the nettle thing, but it didn't work for me.

Up your vitamin c intake (helps lower histamine levels)... Neti pot twice a day... Hope for the best.

I am sneezing 20-30 times a day and constantly blowing my nose, it's terrible.

I take a tablet with vit C, garlic, horseradish and it's meant to help with allergies.

oh wow, i've never heard of a neti pot - just wiki'd it, what a bizarre little invention! thanks for the advice!

i'll also have to get on the vit-c uptake. *sneeze*

I don't know anything about nettles, but here's what's been helpful for me:

1) using the Neti pot
2) eliminating wheat - I know this won't be the case for everyone, but it turns out I have a wheat sensitivity that really exacerbates my seasonal allergy symptoms.
3) eliminating dairy - not an issue for vegans, but when I was pre-vegan, I figured out that dairy made my allergies worse.

Prior to discovering these things, I was incapacitated by allergies for several weeks during spring, even with taking prescription meds. Now, I only need to take prescription meds every few days during allergy season. And this past spring, I ate some wheat thinking, "How bad could it be?" and paid for it with bad allergies for the next 24 hours. If I eat wheat during non-allergy season, I just get tired and cranky and bloated.
