Target is now selling homeopathic oscillococcinum, a substance that contains water and probably not a single molecule of curative duck liver.

So buy some?

My mom takes that stuff. I had no idea it had nonexistent duck offal in it.

The secretary at my boyfriend's work bought lozenges (or something) of that for the office to keep healthy.

My boyfriend the (vegan) skeptic looked it up online and was appalled first at what it contains, and second at the existence of homeopathic cures in general. As someone who worked at a health food store for years so already knew about this kind of thing, I found his outrage adorable.

Funny how almost 14 years ago an artical was put out saying this is just an over priced sugar pill. It is still causing controversy and people are still buying it!
I worked at CVS 5 years ago and all the pharmacists recommend this during the Airborn craze.

Another forum I'm on had a huge argument over how you "ingest" more duck just by walking near a duck pond and the vegans should get real. They didn't get how dumb they sounded. Especially since the forum is all about saving money.....I hope they didn't stock up on too much of this stuff when it was on sale.

I nearly peed myself laughing because we have some of this in our medicine cabinet (belonging to my housemates). They are two brothers and their mum comes over and tells me I'm killing myself by eating tofu and the occasional drop of agave nectar, how she's going to have a 'free-range' turkey and egg nog for Christmas and how I should spray milk on my yet-to-be-planted zucchini. This is while her sons eat multiple fried eggs, devon and other processed meats and ramen noodles, all the time.

Sigh. I needed to get that out.

I've read about the milk thing before, for organic pest control etc. but obviously I'm going to try to find an alternative, plus I haven't had any problems with my little garden yet to need pest control and the zucchini isn't even planted.
