Yay! I never tried the no-strip method, I'll have to investigate.

I normally just keep it on the shelf, as it's just water and sugar I don't think it can go bad. And in any case it stays there for no more than a month or two.

I can't wait to try this again. I think the key was letting the carmelized sugar sit for a bit in the pan rather than pouring it off right away, because the wax I left in the pan turned into the kind that worked well for non-strip waxing but the other stuff was too gooey and needed strips to work properly. I think it's a fine line and I'm not quite sure what the difference is other than a few more seconds on the heat.

I'm getting a wax tomorrow so I'll be trying this after some regrowth. Hopefully it will be less painful.

So I just got a wax from a spa here and I asked the woman what she thought about at-home sugaring for a bikini wax and she said she would never do that - too "dangerous." What do you guys think? I know some of you do it and I'm obviously planning on it once I get some regrowth. What's the biggest risk?

the only way you could find it dangerous, the way i see it, is if it's too hot and you burn yourself. the skin there is pretty delicate. i left it until the pot was cool, so there was no way it was hot.

a day after the bikini sugaring, i have one bruised spot but nothing else. The bruised spot was where i didn't get a good shot of cornstarch and it stuck to my skin. i repeat, cornstarch or powder is good. as for it being dangerous, i say balderdash.

Wait cornstarch? Powder? What is this for?

Once my hair grows in a little, I want to try this, but I've never been waxed (I'm a shaver who wants to not be a shaver anymore), so I don't know what powder would be for...

I don't like the idea of messing up my ladybits if I do this wrong!

It absorbs any moisture (sugaring doesn't work if your skin is damp) and stops the paste from sticking to your skin.
