Basically the Giver focuses on a pattern of massage that is so predictable the Receiver can really relax - starts with down the back (neck to hips) and then the backs of the arms, then on to the backs of the legs, then front of the chest and arms and then the legs, all using a firm "grounding" touch. The Giver asks permission before moving on. Once the Receiver is so relaxed it is like an altered state, the Giver asks if s/he can move to the genitals and then shifts to an arousing, fingertip touch, that raises blood to the surface of the skin.
It is an amazing technic because it really does move you into an altered state where you are so much more receptive and unguarded.
