So I've had this infection going off and on for over a week now. I was on antibiotics and that's what started this whole mess. I'll clove it up for a day, seems to get better so I stop. A day later the cheesy-ness is back. Do I just need to keep doing more garlic or just buy some over-the-counter thing and be done with it? It's getting really annoying.

I would be more consistent with it. Don't just use it for a day, use it for three days to make sure it's really gone.

This is fascinating! I haven't had a yeast infection for years now (thankfully, I would get them quite badly when I was younger), but I am keeping this in mind if one ever comes back. I need to take antibiotics if I ever get bitten by a cat at work, and the last time I did feel a bit of a tingle before I started some probiotics.

I kept seeing this thread and never read it for some reason until a few days ago. I am totally going to try this the next time I get an infection. I had never thought of this, but it sounds much more pleasant than what you would but over the counter.

I never thougth to use garlic. I have opened the capsule of a 20 billion 14 strain probiotic and used tha twith success before but never garlic....hmmmmm

I tried it for BV, I cannot tell if I am cured yet.

i am now on the garlic bandwagon. since i started BC, i've been getting yeast infections - this is my 9th month on it and i've had an infection almost every month. i've never had them before this. sooooo i've been using garlic and wiping with apple cider vinegar twice a day (morning and night). this shiitake forking sucks! :( after this last pack of pills is done, i'm not taking it anymore.

but i find that using garlic just at night isn't good enough - and you have to start it as SOON as you feel the slightest itch - sometimes i can't tell if it's an infection or just itchy from shaving or something, and then i wait too long - but the last one i had, i put garlic in right away, and kept garlic in there for 24 hours straight (changed the clove a few times) and it went away within a day, it was amazing.

does anyone know what triggers an infection? or how long it takes for an infection to show up, after being exposed to said trigger?

it's just difficult for me to find the source of mine, or why they happen at particular times. i suspect maybe it's a combo of BC and drinking alcohol - all the sugar - but why would that affect my vagina of all places? i guess it could also be the conditioner i use for shaving - sometimes it gets too close - or something.

Does your partner keep their junk clean? Do you take baths? Those could be two possible culprits and are easy enough to fix.

haha yeah, those could be possibilities, except he is very dilligent about keeping clean, and so am i. oh well. hopefully quitting the pill will help! yeasties suck :(

That's how birth control pills were for me. Constant yeasties, I wasn't even having sex.

I think she ment do you take baths as in baths rather than showers, not do you wash. Baths and hot standing water can make it worse, so you should avoid them.

I've been lucky enough to not have to stick garlic in my vag. So I can't talk about whether it works for not. But I'm home today from work and watching the Drs show on tv and they totally just disputed this!! The lady obgyn on the show said DO NOT STICK GARLIC IN YOUR VAGINA! I'm cracking up over here! If they had a hotline I would call and tell them that the PPK thinks otherwise.

She was all "It will get lost up there and then you'll have to see me to get it out!" Oh man, that was great!
