Anyone else have this? What are your sneak attacks like? YES! I get all hot and nauseated and weak. The worst. It usually happens at a store (usually wal-mart or the post exchange - I have no idea why) Ugh this is what happens to me too! I get too hot, and then my stomach goes, and then I have a panic attack because I'm too hot and I need to poop! Has anyone figured out a solution to this? My current plan is to remove all extra layers of clothing and take deep breaths if I'm not near a bathroom, but I feel like there's a better way...

Thes - no idea! I'm either out and about or screwed or at home. Also, then I get the chills.
Feeling a bit off today and going out shopping w/ the husband and kid - fingers crossed!

Anyone's bowels get weirded out by change in weather?
I know when it gets hot, I mean REALLY hot out, it takes me two months to get adjusted, and then I never feel fully adjusted. Summers are the worst. In the winter, it takes a shorter period of time. Maybe it's because winter is longer? I'm not sure.

I'm adding split peas to the list of foods I can't eat. I don't know why but they hate me.

Went to a greek restaurant tonight, had greasy couscous with grilled vegetables, oily hummus and red pepper dip. My stomach is so sad right now.

Seriously try it.

fupa: Sorry. =/
Appifanie: I am the same way. I really don't like taking medicine for anything. It's like masking my problems. I usually just suffer it out, like right now (I stupidly drank diet cherry soda.) But we were in NYC and had about 10 hours before our train was leaving, plus tickets to Ellis Island. I was in so much pain I didn't know what to do. I'm glad my boyfriend suggested taking them, because about an hour later I was doing much better, aka able to walk without dying, and enjoyed the rest of our trip. I took one more pill 6 hours later, but I "detoxed" myself the next day. I feel like it's a good backup for emergencies, such as out-of-town events, weddings, etc.

meh, having an inexplicably bad day today since I ate the exact same things in the morning I always eat. Has anyone tried this? http://www.ibsaudioprogram.com/ I'm unconvinced but a lot of IBS forums have good things to say about it.

The first time I took dicyclomine, I felt drug. Like, at work, drunk, don't remember driving home or the last hour. When I took it to NYC, I didn't feel like that. Though I feel dehydrated when I'm on it, like I had been in the sun all day and I'm a prune. Under special precautions: "you should know that dicyclomine reduces the body's ability to cool off by sweating. In very high temperatures, dicyclomine can cause fever and heat stroke." When I read the warnings on my paper that came with it, you basically can't sweat efficiently. So, lots of H2O!

Word of the day: self-sabotage.
Ever feel normal, even for a few minutes? Like you really DON'T have IBS, or some magic fairy cured you? You aren't bloated, you aren't pooping, you aren't nauseous or feeling flu-like, you aren't in pain throughout your whole digestive tract. You feel amazing, like you never had IBS. You feel the world around you once more.
Yes, this was me at 4:30 p.m. And what did I do? Thought it was smart to eat a small bag of chips, 5 reduced-fat oreos and a 20 oz. bottle of Pepsi throwback in less than an hour.
Let's just say, my demented brain now realizes I still do, in fact, have IBS. Hello pain, I did not miss you.

Ugh - been there! I hope you feel better soon!
eta: As I was debating giving up gluten, I ate an oreo and it almost killed me.

Oh, app! I'm so sorry! I hate it when you go to enjoy something and then you can't. Or it's something you thought save and it rears its ugly head finally.
Today my intestines keep going "weee!!" and giving me some pain randomly. Like they are spazing a bit. Probably because I decided to exercise, because my colon loves the fact I'm fat. lol.

it's really not so bad that oreos hate me - good for the weight loss at least :D i'm quite convinced that quitting gluten has helped my weight as well as the ibs and my migraines.
