It's called FLOUXETINE...it's for PMDD. I haven't taken it yet and was wondering if anyone else on here has taken it/know of someone who's taken it?

Isn't that just a different name for Prozac? Though, I may be wrong...

Yes, that's prozac.
ETA: It's basically the generic form of prozac. I've taken it with neutral results. Not worse nor better But everyone's chemistry is very different, so you might benefit greatly...depending on what you take it for. It has many uses.

I was on fluoxetine, but it just gave me insomnia, excessive sweating, and ... sexual side effects. Didn't do much for my attitude. Wasn't sure how I was supposed to be happier when I was up all night and couldn't even stroganoff to pass the time. But other people swear by it.

I've had it twice. The first time it was amazing, the second time it made my anxiety worse.

I was prescribed fluoxetine a few years back, it definitely worked for me. It wasn't like I was instantly amazingly better, it just got me to a point where I was able to deal with things and function again. The only side effect I can remember was that it made me really tired, but I just took it at night so no problem there.

I took it years back, but didn't work for me. However, you need to remember that this medication needs at least 4 weeks to have an effect, so stick with it before trying something else.

My friend was on it and it worked amazingly for her. She was on something else before that did nothing, but she said that this stuff helped. It just "sat in the background" so she could go on and do what she wanted to do. She actually got off it about a year later.
But as everyone else has been saying this sort of stuff interacts with everyone differently. But be sure to give it at least 4 weeks to kick in! It won't work if you don't give it a chance.

Yep, Prozac. I was on it for a few years as a teen. Give it a fair four weeks to see how you feel, and if you're not happy, don't be afraid to try something different. Everyone has a unique body chemistry and sometimes a takes a few tries to find a good happy pill fit.

I had a friend on it for general depression and it seemed to work well for her.
Will you be taking it all the time or just as needed? I ask because I was given an SSRI for PMDD and told I could take it as needed and that it would work that way, but I haven't tried that yet.

It's for PMDD. I'm kinda weary of it,but I'll give it time.

Like everyone else said, it works differently for different people, so you just have to try it and see. One thing -- if you take it for a while and then decide to stop, DO NOT just stop taking it. Talk to your doctor, and taper off gradually. It can cause really extreme mood swings and all sorts of bad psychological stuff if you get used to it and then just stop.

I'm on it for depression and have been on it for about 6 years or so. It hasn't sorted everything out, but things are definitely easier to deal with now. I've occasionally been very stupid and just stopped taking it - definitely don't do that! It was awful and a very bad idea. But if you just take it as and when you need to, then that presumably won't be as much of an issue. I hope it works for you.

Oh thats really good. there are a variety of different drugs they can try you on so its quite natural that you dont get on with more than one of them, or it just doesnt feel right, so settling first time makes you quite lucky I guess, but perseverence means it'll feel quite useful in the end. Keep at it and I hope this one works out for you (I had soo many doctors trips only to give up my sertraline due to cost!)
