These rules are non-negotiable!
1- No cleanses. If you are on a juice cleanse, a no-food cleanse, a vegetable cleanse, whatever - please do not post about it here! As long as you have a functioning liver, kidney and spleen we'll be happy to hear about it, but all other cleanses have historically been triggers for disordered eating. Which leads us to...
2- No posting about EDs. We very much love and support all who suffer from eating disorders and that is why we have this rule. The truth is, we are not licensed therapists and are not equipped to deal with these sorts of issues. When people do post about eating disorders it too often warps into enabling. Please, if you have an ED, seek the professional help that you need. A wonderful pro-recovery website that we recommend is Something-Fishy.org.
3- No "weight loss challenges." Losing a pound or two a week is generally accepted as a healthy rate for weight loss. Sometimes you can eat healthily and exercise and not even lose that. No need to get all nutso about it.
4- No fat hating language, even if it's about yourself. This is rather up to interpretation, but don't call yourself or others "gross" or "pig" or things like that. Something that is offensive to one person may not be offensive to another, but try to approach things with sensitivity and open mind.

You consider a juice cleanse a disorder? Really? What do you consider raw foodism, then?

It doesn't say it's a disorder, it says it's a trigger for disordered eating. The drawbacks of talking about cleanses outweigh the benefits for many, many people here.

I don't want to get into an argument, so I'm sorry to continue this, but I really take offense to this. On one day of a juice cleanse, you eat bowls upon bowls of fresh, organic fruits and vegetables (essentially a raw diet). The cleanse is packed with nutrients to create a balance in your body, rid your body of toxins, improve mental clarity, improve skin, aid with digestion, etc etc etc. I take offense to this because I would never proudly boast about something that would hurt others. I was hoping to share my recipes with this community, like I do with all of the delicious, but really bad for you, things- greasy and sugary foods, for those of us who care about keeping our bodies in balance to live a healthy lifestyle and to help ward off disease. To pay for such a cleanse costs a ton of money, but to create your own saves money and actually lets you tailor the nutrients to what YOU need, as well as getting the most nutrients from your juice, as you're juicing and drinking immediately.
I wanted to share what I've learned with this community, as I've enjoyed sharing in the past, but apparently I cannot share healthy recipes without seeming as though I have a problem. Just because we're vegan doesn't mean that we can eat endless Daiya cheese, dessert for every meal, and every possible faux version of x (cheesesteaks, Mexican hot dogs, burritos, etc) and still get all of the nutrients we need. I love love love this stuff, and my sloppiest creations receive the most comments and thumbs up on here, but we need to get real and realize that we need actual nutrients in our lives once in a while.

No one is saying you have a problem, just that cleanses can be problematic and have been on these boards in the past. There are a lot of people on these boards both in recovery from and with disordered eating and anything we can do to minimize triggering language and discussions is going to save some people from having to deal with any issues that talking about cleanses can bring up. There are tons of different types of cleanses, some healthier than others, but it's never necessary to try to cleanse your body. Certainly no one is saying that we can't talk about healthy food. There are tons of threads and food porn pics of healthy, whole foods and isa and terry's books are a testament to how great and flavorful eating these foods can be. It's definitely not all daiya and gardein around here. I think it's great that you have a blog sharing your juice recipes with people, but it's just not appropriate to post about it on these boards.
