I'll cut down on the wheat as best as I can for a little while to hopefully help things along, otherwise I'll keep going as I have been. I'll check out probiotics if I get really desperate. Right now, it's just epic discomfort. I feel like a friggin' blimp, and it's not the kind of "big" feeling that simply loosening your pants can fix. Groan.
I'm just hoping I wake up tomorrow and the feeling is pretty much gone. I can dream, right? It sounds like you are consuming more fiber that previously...how much water are you drinking? I have to drink 10 cups a day, or else the same thing happens to me! Good luck! This. I can always tell when I haven't had enough water.

has anyone else noticed that more protein equals more gas? I usually eat a lot of whole grain carbs and drink a lot of water and its fine, but lately I've been upping my protein in the form of beans, tofu, and protein powders. I've definitely noticed more gas.

I agree with all of the people that said your body is just not used to getting that much fiber. If you were eating pizza and breads before going vegan then you were definitely getting plenty of wheat and if you didn't have a problem with wheat before, you probably aren't now. Any time you have a significant diet change, particularly one with lots more fiber you're going to feel a digestive change. Your body needs to adjust to processing new foods. It's a good sign though, it means your body is cleaning out all of the gunk in your system from your previous diet. I would go with the added water and vegetarian Beano.
While we're on the topic, why don't they just make all Beano vegetarian?

I am going to go with change in diet. I know for the first month of being vegan, I felt like the Hindenberg.
And I have to add my voice to the "you so purty" chorus.

Either drinking more water helped, or not drinking any soy milk helped. I'm not sure which. I'll eventually have a bowl of cereal, so we'll know for sure then. But hey, I've been feeling great, so thanks for all the advice! <3
Oh, and I've lost 5 pounds in one week just from changing my diet. I've always been lean and toned, but I ate like complete shiitake. It's amazing what changes when you go from pizza twice a week to eating fresh veggies, fruits and nuts with each meal. This threw me for a spin. Pretty damn sweet!

Soy milk can stir up your intestinal bacteria. You can also try rice/almond milk as alternatives to find some balance.
