a friend just shared this study -

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/m/pubmed/25550171/#fft

reassuring to me because plant-based sources of omega-3's are often ridiculed for being "poorly converted", but since turmeric is a commonly used spice in vegan cuisine it sounds like we had this one covered all along. Viva la tofu scramble!

Thats awesome! Ive been attempting to educate myself on fatty acids n such! I was quite scared when i found out the ALA has such a low conversion rate. This is good news!

Have u had golden milk? There's different vegan recipes but i usually wing it. I steep a black tea bag and a fresh ginger cube in nondairy milk.. Mix in turmeric, cinnamon, and sugar.

U have any fav ways of using turmeric other than the standard curry?

I take turmeric capsules with each meal for a day or two after getting tattooed because it helps with the swelling.

Aaah dude i always have empty veg capsules from my dogs amino acids (i make her food myself).. i just throw them away after theyre empty. Ill make my own turmeric capsules!

On a tattoo note im starting my back piece! Its gonna be the vegan black metal chefs "vegan" with some badass designs on my lower back. Then eventually my entire back. Is there a tattoo thread? I recall a body mod one. Ill share when i get it :)

Curcumin is poorly absorbed so you have to really eat large amounts. I know that for some medical treatments, they are looking into direct delivery systems for curcumin as well as isolated curcumin pills. A little tumeric in a tofu scramble really won't cut it neither will tumeric tea.

what i understand is black pepper significantly increases the bioavailability of curcumin; and oil can too, it looks like.

http://nutritionfacts.org/video/boostin ... -curcumin/

I drink a beverage twice a day of 1 heaping tsp ginger powder, 1 heaping tsp turmeric, 1/3 tsp cinnamon (regulates blood sugar), xylitol (as a sweetener), fat pinch black pepper, 1 tbl apple cider vinegar (for its alkalizing properties), 1 tbl hemp seed oil (both to make the curcumin more bioavailable and also because of the omegas in the oil) and water. nd I take this through a straw (the ACV is bad for tooth enamel) Just something I made up and tweak as I go along...

Who knows, maybe I'm harming myself in some way...all I know is that while (for now) I hardly exercise, I wake up with very little back pain....

Listening to that, it is rather that the curcumin that gets into the blood stream stays around longer with black pepper rather than black pepper helping it get into the blood stream. My point was simply that a little tumeric isn't going to do anything.

Do u think turmeric capsules would be effective? Also, im always wondering about the benefits of powders.. They dont seem like theyd be that effective in general. Ive never even seen fresh turmeric in person but it would have to be better for you yea?
