My tomato sensitivity is generally proportional to my stress levels and also tends to be cumulative. So if I'm extra stressed out and eat tomatoes at several meals in a row, I'll get really sick. If I'm nice and calm, and eat tomatoes just once, I'll probably be fine. So for instance if I know I'm going to eat a meal with tomatoes, I'll avoid them for a few meals before, and try to keep my stress levels low.
I am definitely affected by stress too.
It also seems like fresh tomatoes aren't as much as a problem with canned tomatoes, I hope that isn't just my imagination.
