I know we had a thread about massage a few pages back. I have different questions though. Please help if you can! :)
I had my first massage yesterday, it was a 90 minute therapeutic massage, it felt really good, I was relaxed - hard for me to do. The massage therapist told me I have tons of knots in my back and she was only able to get a few out - not wanting to over work me. She said to come back in two weeks and then do it monthly. Does this sound right? I don't have tons of money (for this type of stuff) and I would love to be able to go in every other month. What is recommended?

That sounds right to me--Ryan actually had to go back every two weeks for a couple of months (sciatica); then monthly. Fortunately the insurance covered it because he first went to a chiropractor who prescribed it.
How do you feel today?

Yeah, I went in weekly a few times when I was a wreck. My masseuse is really awesome, and I did a full body hour-long massage the first time (maybe two times) and then after that we just did half-hour sessions to focus on my back, neck, and shoulders. So maybe you could do some shorter sessions to save some money?

I am going to go back for a 30 minute every 2 weeks - and treat myself to a 90 minute every time I can spare some $...

I'm a massage therapist. I'd say it sounds about right. Once a month will keep it controllable and you most likely wont get all wacked out again. Obviously if your having a rough week go in. Once a month is something that everyone should do. Its very rare that a person would have perfect posture and not sit at a desk/ drive a car/ carry a bag/ sleep funny.

That seems right to me also. That's about how long it takes for my knots to come back. I haven't gotten a massage in a long time. Maybe once I get my tax refund.

I want to try going, but I have no idea how to find a good one! Anyone have any tips? There's a spa place by my work that offers a $45 hour long one but that seems like it could be too cheap to be true.

I like deals, a lot of spas offer deals to get people in. Call them and see if they seem nice. I picked mine through Yelp, I saw they make their own products so I could make sure animal goo was not slathered over me!
