This is rather embarrassing but something I've always wondered about. I have a problem PPK: I only poop 3-4 times a week. Yes, I know, shocking. I've been like this my entire life. I've been vegan for 3 years and I'd say my habits increased slightly after changing my diet, but I am definitely not your 3-4 per day average vegan. I am not a junk food vegan, either. I eat lots of beans, lentils, veggies etc. I've always wondered: Is something wrong with me? (that's a serious question) Should I consult a doctor? I'm afraid that they will recommend OTC laxatives and not much more.

Has anyone tried colonics or at home enemas? Could you share you experience and the after-effects (if you don't mind)

If you are worried, talk to a doctor. If you have no issues like pain or bloating, my guess would be you are fine.

Treating yourself with a colonic or enema would seem to me to be ill-advised unless a medical doctor recommends it.

i'm with vantine. not everyone poops every day. If you're not experiencing discomfort from it then I think you're probably fine. Definitely ask your doc before you try colonics! those aren't healthy for you!

If this is how you've always been I'd guess this is just the way you are.

If you feel like you're alone, no, no, no, you are not alone.

What? Am I reading right? The average vegan poops 3-4 times per day? Joke?

I go every day or two but that's what's normal for me. If you're having any sort of discomfort from pooping every other day rather than every day, maybe you can ask a doc. Otherwise, taking a dump every other day seems alright to me.

I poop just about every morning, about 30 minutes after I wake up. When this doesn't happen, I don't worry. I once knew a guy that pooped once a week.

I'm pretty much the same way. It can be 3 days between poops, but usually its a few time on the days that I go...probably just didn't get it all done with the first time.

Anyway, I'd start with prunes. It has helped me in the past when I remember.

I actually AM a little uncomfortable, because I'm often a bit gassy bloated and feel like I need to go but know I'm not ready yet. Not super hurty, but a bit...larger than I appear.

haha, I went for 11 days one time. would not recommend. since going vegan, I'm once every day or two, down from once every two or three days. one of my grandparents died of bowel cancer, so it's always been a concern of how irregular/infrequent I am. but it's how I've always been, so I guess time will tell.
