Whichsarah is indeed real and cute as a bug.
I've taken friends for medical abortions. I recommend that you bring someone with you because you might not feel like driving afterward and it will be nice to have someone to talk to and care for you.

I don't have any personal experience with Ru486, but I did have a surgical abortion 20+ years ago and was very alone at the time (didn't really have any women to talk to about it, and the father - boyfriend at the time - was a bit of a dolt and entirely unable to understand what I was going through emotionally)
I just wanted to send my well wishes, and hopes that these dark days will pass quickly. It sucks having to shoulder this much suckage by yourself. *hugs*

Hi, Una! I've only had the surgical procedure, and I wanted to give you hugs and support. It's a difficult emotional space to be in, but you do get past it, and I, for one, have no regrets. I'm so grateful that we have these safe options.
Take care of yourself.

I don't have any advice, but I also live in Central Jersey and would love to go out for coffee or something if you just want somebody to listen in person.

I'm so sorry you're having to go through this. I've taken the abortion pill to get rid of a blockage. It made me a bit dizzy and gave me diarrhea. Other than that, it wasn't that bad.

Una, I am SO sorry. When I saw the thread title I thought "uh oh!" and then "Oh no!" when I realized who had started it. I have no experience with abortion, but I'm wishing you the best. <3 I hope this works out as easily as possible and Stalky McStalkerson leaves you the hell alone.

I wish I could punch the universe and tell it to give you a break, Una. I don't have any personal experience in this regard, but I'll be thinking of you and wishing you the very best possible.

Hugs! I'm sorry you're having to deal with so much at once. I remember your stalker thread, I can't believe that is still going on. UGH. Many many hugs! I hope things start looking up for you soon.

Oh, Una! I'm so sorry you're going through this. I've had two surgical abortions. Neither were easy decisions, but I know I made the right choice. I hope everything goes okay, and the rough time you've had lately lets up soon.
Lots of love and hugs!

i'm so sorry. i remember the last thread and how difficult that was for you. i'm sure you are making the right decision, and even though it seems like the universe is just piling on every forking thing it can think of right now, you will get through it. i wish i lived closer so i could meet you and buy you a cup of coffee and give you a real hug, but internet hugs will have to do.
(hugs)

I had a medical abortion and I don't want to be scary or anything, but I have to say it was the most painful experience of my life--worse than actual childbirth. I was 6 weeks and 2 days, so still early. Basically, what happened to me is that I went into what felt exactly like actual labor, but somehow actually worse. I threw up for hours, lay around on the floor moaning and crying, tried lying on the floor in the hot shower (I just couldn't stand up at all), had contractions for about seven hours (it felt like full labor), went to the ER when I was sure I was actually dying, ended up on morphine (which was wonderful), and about an hour later passed a golf ball sized clot. I would not recommend this. I actually documented the whole thing as it happened (when I could, which was mostly before the hell started and after it was done) and it was so traumatic I can't even read it yet. And it's been quite a while. I know some people have had this with success and many others have a traumatic, hellish experience. I would never go through that again, no matter what. I wish I'd gone the surgical route, but I figured this would be less invasive and more private (not that an early surgical abortion is invasive...I was just not up to dealing with it).
I haven't had any experience with the morning after pill or anything else, but if you do consider a medical abortion, I would urge you to really look into it. To be honest, it was so brutal and so painful, I'm surprised it is legal at all. You essentially labor and give birth to whatever is in there all at home. At least, that's what it was for me.
I don't mean to sound all melodramatic, but it really was a horrific experience and I'm not exaggerating a single bit.

I went into more detail in my pm, but for the sake of balance, I want to add that my medication abortion was no different than a really intense period. I've even had period cramps that were worse. It was basically a lot of getting up from the couch to change pads and eating ice cream. It lasted a couple hours, and then trickled down to a regular period flow for a couple days. I was over 8 weeks in, so almost at the end of the period that they allow the medication options.

i'm so sorry for your terrible experience, lachesis. i'm really curious-- were you given drugs for pain and nausea to take before taking the misoprostol? like i said before, i was really concerned about pain and i was given a strong narcotic plus a strong anti-emetic which i took half an hour before the misoprostol. then i took 800 mg of ibuprofen about an hour after the misoprostol. i took more of the narcotic 4 hours after the first dose, the soonest the drug instructions said it could be taken. i'm sure all of that medicating was at least partly responsible for my pain-free abortion. if you took a similar group of meds and still went through all of that, then fortunately for most of us your experience was extremely rare. if you weren't given adequate pain and nausea medication, then that i want to personally contact the clinic you went to and ask them why the hell they let their patients suffer unnecessarily.

They gave me percocet, I think. And 800 mg Ibuprofen to take every 4 hrs or so. Nothing for nausea. I actually tried dramamine to help that, but it didn't do anything for it. The morphine was what helped...oh yeah...good stuff.
But I don't think my case was the norm. They did say it was probably going to be like an intense period with bad cramping and such, so I was surprised when it all unfolded as it did. It seems I'm in a minority with the really bad medical abortion experience, which I'm glad for!

Wow, that sounds horrible Lachesis. I didn't even take ibuprofen - just the two pills a few days apart and then I had what felt like strong period cramps, and passed a large clot of blood. And mine was at 12 weeks, which at the time was the limit - I was moving, so I first thought I missed my period bc I was stressed... Still mine was so easy compared to the surgical terminations, and I was very grateful for it.
