The online calculators indicate that my maintenance calories should be anywhere between 1560-1640. I tried 1600 and gained, so I reduced my goal to 1560. I'm going to give it another couple months before I decide if that's the right number. I also wear a heart rate monitor when I exercise, and I eat back whatever I burn. Maintenance to me feels restrictive and crappy, but I'm happy with 1700-1800, so I try to "earn" at least that many calories a few times a week.
Right now I'm not exercising and it sucks. Can't wait until my foot allows me to start moving again.

Whatever way I caught my reflection in a glass door at work I thought I looked nicely slim. I totally kept walking past that door all day to admire my figure. Oh and I was totally complemented by another woman at work today. She said my incredible diet really pays off with the way I look. Apparently I look the picture of health and clearly it is down to my varied diet.

I think I look noticeably thinner now, and people at work are noticing. Today FOUR people that I see every work day just noticed my red hair. It's been red since Christmas! So, I think they just notice something different, so they think about it and then come up with the new hair.
Kind of amusing. Until I figured this up, I was kind of what the fizzle? about all the seemingly random hair comments all at once.

Started clean eating again. I've been eating way too much refined sugar and starchy foods lately which have made my allergies flare up. So - no more sugar, flour, pasta, white rice or gluten. Today's food has been apples, whole nut sugar free PB, nuts and vegetables.

Weight loss aside, I feel pretty good since I started tracking my diet again. Probably because I've drastically reduced my cookie intake. I was tracking on SparkPeople and the site is soooooo cluttered now that I hated it using it, but since I switched to MFP I've actually been logging every day.

It's really hard to have motivation for me now with the lack of sun and the trails being shiitake as they are covered in snow. Plus I like large portions of food. It's portion size which has always got me.

They'll eat like half a sandwich and 6 forkfuls of salad while I kill the salad, the sandwich and why not give me a bow of soup too. And I plow it fast which I know is another problem.

Yeah, I'm a plate cleaner, even at restaurants. It almost makes me not want to go out to eat with people because I feel so self-conscious about it. I always feel like I have to leave food leftover just because other people do. But, like, I don't understand how someone can eat half a salad and be full. It's salad!

I love it when people say to me, but you eat so healthy! Well it's not healthy if you eat gargantuan portions!

Started exercising more regularly this week along with cutting out soda and alcohol. I also started tracking everything I'm eating and miraculously I lost 6 pounds in a week. I know that is a huge jump, but its my first week and I have a lot of weight to lose, and yes I'm eating all my calories. I also started my period and I'm not super bloated, I think that has to do with the no alcohol or soda, I don't think my body has ever gone a week without soda...that is sad.

I think my period is coming. Face is a little bloated, I'm crampy and easily emotional. Still mostly tracking/staying aware of approximate calorie intake though so hopefully once the period ends, I'll keep losing inches on my measurements! Slow but steady. Would love to check a scale soon however.
ETA: I think cutting soda & alcohol out probably help lose a lot of water weight. Always a nice way to start a weight loss journey. :-D

More like a ton of sugar and carbs. I'm on meds that slow my metabolism and give me powerful cravings. I had a week off work this week and any time I'm not working I put on weight super quick no matter how much exercise I do or how many salads I eat.

oh god, i started an internship this week , its 9-10 hours monday-friday. Normally most of them leave for lunch and so far i got gnocci with tomato sauce (which tasted way too creamy to be vegan :( ) and falafel and it's not playing into my weightloss hands. i am really unsure what to do. id prefer to take my lunch with me but then i cant even leave the office the whole day long!

Maybe take your own lunch alternate days and on those days go for a walk too so you are getting in a little extra exercise and you are still getting out of the office.

no, i cant go for a walk on my own. first of all its -5c° (23 F?) here and I already freeze when I have to walk there from the train and also they close the door there always. the 4/5 people leaving at lunch always take the key when they leave. and I'm also very shy so i wouldnt want to bother anyone further. maybe i will just alternate. sometimes some people dont leave for lunch.. it also means, that i could, theoretically, leave work earlier - if i just spent 30 minutes on lunch and not an hour. but they do "guilttrip" you into staying longer.
damn. i prefer university to this.

Don't worry.... I all about Celsius. I haven't a clue about Fahrenheit! Yeah, -5 is cold. Maybe it will be an option a bit further down the road when it is warmer and you are more comfortable with where you work.

Yeah, you're right. It should get warmer soon anyway.. I'll just try to take lunch with me on monday and try out staying in. will see how i like that (probably not much), or else I will eat a lot of bad salad?
I'm also trying to figure out if I can get gym time worked into this schedule somewhere, at least 3 times a week. the days when I start at 9.30, i should be able to be at the gym (other side of the city :/ ) at 7 and go to work afterwards. Uh, this sounds exhausting just writing it. But sitting for 9 hours without any kind of movement in the day is crazy, too.

It definitely is. In my current job I actually have a lunch break. Usually I go out for a short drive and have a walk around a shop then head back to eat my lunch and gossip with whoever has decided to hang around. Just that break from work for 10 minutes makes the world of a difference. The last place I worked in I didn't get a lunch. I was only allowed a few minutes to grab something to eat. It was torturous hell knowing I couldn't leave at any point. Not great since I had a massive fear thing surrounding working in that particular area.
