Very cool bastah and ariann!

I've lost 4 pounds in three weeks on weight watchers. I don't necessarily expect to keep up losing a pound or two a week, but it's already helping me get over my massive bread and sugar cravings, which I'm sure have a lot to do with how much weight I've gained in the last couple of years. It's also helping me see what more reasonable portion sizes are. It helps that my husband and my sister are doing it, too. I just wish I hadn't mentioned it to my coworkers because while they are well-meaning, their encouragement makes me feel weird.

Happy Monday everyone! I had a fun weekend of food and partying and was too tired to workout this morning. But I am back in it this week. Also I have started blogging about losing weight. Hoping it helps me stay motivated.

How is everyone doing?

Guys I took a class last night that was really fun! It was Bokwa, has anyone else done it yet? It's like the new Zumba. There is a cardio dance club around the corner from my house that offers it along with Zumba. But I decided to give this a shot last night and it was awesome. I sweated buckets and got a killer workout. I hope I can fit it in every week.

Fun! Never heard of it--how does it differ from Zumba?

None of the moves are latin dance moves. They are all kind of made up. You basically use your feet to make letters and numbers on the floor. And then then put them all together into a routine. But it's really bouncy and you look like you are actually dancing by the end.

See, I think I would like that more, GraciaKai. Zumba makes me feel pretty unsexy/uncoordinated. I mean, the class I went to was fun and it wasn't a big deal, but I was self-conscious.

They look really advanced but once you have the steps down you kind of look like you know what your doing even if you really don't. I loved it!

That sounds really fun!

I'm stuck at still needing to lose 4lb. I have until 1st December to do it, so I should manage, but the colder weather makes me hungry, and really want cooked food, wheras I was eating more salad over the summer.

Good luck, dropscone!

I've noticed that, too. I'm not actively trying to lose weight anymore, but I'm still tracking and whatnot and trying to eat more real food instead of just snacks. (I get lazy and stop cooking/preparing proper meals, fill up on snacks, and then the weight creeps back on.) I'm trying to make an effort to roast some vegetables. I thought about making roasted veg salads, but I just want hot food. I think roasting a lot of vegetables brings out such a nice flavor in them, and you don't need a ton of oil or anything (Wilson usually sautes veg in a lot of oil; delicious, but not necessarily where I want to get my calories). Plus, it's easy!

I still need to lose that four pounds, but a bit of a boost this morning for me - some boots I bought about three years ago that were too tight to comfortably zip up now fit! I didn't waste that money after all! Perfect timing for the coming colder months, too. I am happy.

I must say, all the discussions about how many calories anyone should eat or not greatly confused me. I definitely need to try something and stick with it for a while now to see how it's going. My weight has been stable for months now but I'm obese and I'm feeling really uncomfortable in my skin. I'm very small so even just a few pounds less make a difference in how feel.

I'm going to try to eat 1600-1800 calories and if that's not going to well I can still change it later. The main thing I feel I need to do, though, is to finally eat 3 meals a day. When I'm with my boyfriend it's especially hard because he tends to eat huge 1-2 meals and then snack a lot at night.
Yeah, so my main thing I want to do is eat 3 meals a day and have 2 healthy snacks in between. I hope that helps with eating out of boredom. I also need to stop skipping meals out of laziness.

I feel like Ive been doing well with exercise. But im having a hard time with food still. I know Im overeating and not paying attention to portions. The thought of measuring everything out and tracking everything makes me grumpy. I really want to just eat whatever the hell I feel like and not think twice about it. But Ill never lose any weight that way. Its such a frustrating feeling.

interesting how we're all so different. never in my life have I been too tired, too lazy, or too sick to eat a meal. food is just too appealing to me.

Oh, good grief! I cannot even function until I've had a big breakfast. I don't mean just a bowl of cereal here. I mean a big, full breakfast full of many nommy things.

I'm doing really well so far. I've lost 8 pounds in 5 weeks. I'm really just managing my portion sizes and not mindlessly snacking and it's really working for me. I know it won't stay this easy for much longer, so I'm just trying to let my success so far help me feel more motivated to work extra hard later. I really really need to start exercising. I always have an excuse, but I just need to start.

The scales told me I reached my challenge goal this morning! 20lb loss since 9th June. That's an average of one pound a week, which for me seems like a sensible amount off rather than an unsustainable crash diet. Yay!

Now I have to keep it off until 1st December. Then the next (less hard) challenge is due to start, which is another ten pounds off by June 2014, to make sure we don't just start eating too much again.
