I've been vegan for four years now and take my B12 religiously, but I've been told recently I have a fatty acid deficiency so I'm going to add in an omega 3/DHA supplement and I've recently started taking vegan D3. Some of it might be woo, but I think this covers the main concerns of a vegan diet.

What supplements do you take? Why? What have you found you need more of as a vegan?

I try and remember to take a daily VEG1 supplement from the Vegan Society. Made for vegans and happy to support the society :)

Normally just a multivitamin (I get vegetarian ones from trader joe's) but got a bunch of blood tests done when I was pregnant and was fairly vitamin d deficient, as most people in my part of the world are. I took a prescription d supplement until it got back up.

B12, calcium/D combo, iron. B12 because vegan; calcium/D combo because I foodtracked for years and found I was consistently low (like < 25% RDA frequently) on calcium intake; iron because I was screened as "pre-anemic" a while back.

I'm lazy about the calcium and the iron and should probably be more regular with both. I've managed to make the B12 regular by always taking it when I brush my teeth.

I take B12 every day and also Vitamin D in the winter. I get plenty of Vit. D in the summer since I'm always outside and fairly light skinned but I've found through blood tests that I get low in the winter since it's cold here and my city has lots of smog. All my other vitamins have always been at good levels whenever I've had them tested so I don't bother with a multi.

Just in case anyone in the U.S. doesn't know this, a yearly physical and blood work has to be fully covered now (thanks to the ACA) through any insurance program, even catastrophic, so take advantage of it and get your levels tested.

I take vitamin D because I've been low before and a B, complex (including B12) for symptoms of perimenopause.

a multivitamin and calcium. My calcium levels have tended to be low following thyroid cancer, but at my last appointment my level had at least stayed the same (it was dropping slowly but steadily at each appointment prior to that).

I take B12 twice a week, a high dose of vitamin D once a week (my levels were very low earlier this year) and a daily omega 3 supplement. I don't supplement calcium but I try and drink a glass of fortified almond milk most days for a bit extra.

Daily, I take a capsule with Omega3-B6-B9-B12, and vitamin D. The B12 because vegan and the rest mostly for preconceptional purposes.
I also take zinc and iodine every now and then (once a week or less) because I'm pretty sure I don't get enough in my diet but still don't want to OD.

I should probably look into taking calcium.

I try to remember take the RDA of iodine (in the form of a standardised extract of sea kelp tablet) a few times a week. In the UK most people get iodine from seafood or dairy products, and we don't tend to get iodised salt, plus apparently girls and women are more likely to be deficient, so I thought it might be a good idea.

I also take B12 slow release tablets every few days. Everything else I tend to try to get from food, including fortified things like yoghurts and margarine. Sometimes I get a DHA/EPA supplement if I haven't been cooking with a lot of flax.

Everything I take is a precaution, I haven't had any particular symptoms which made me think I needed to take anything.

I take the same one, although my tub is still the old formula (I think they updated it recently). It tastes disgusting but I like it, no iron or anything to make my stomach upset.

Cat's Claw, Dong Quai, Astralagus. I have no immune system. There are some studies that suggest these boost white blood cell count.

B12, D3 (there is a new vegan brand around here), calcium-iron-zinc-rich-vegan-supplement-pills.
I guess my nearly daily half-a-teaspoon coldpressed flax seed oil should go in under this as well?

im still taking a vegan prenatal vitamin because my daughter is still nursing.
i also take a vegan DHA daily, 2000IU vegan D3 daily because i live in the cold white northeast US and hide from the sun. i take B12 3x a week which i think works out to a little bit more than i need, and i take an iron supplement 3x a week because i tend to be low on that

Every day: vitamin D2 and calcium
Four days a week: a multi meant for vegetarians, with b12, zink, etc
Three days a week: a stronger b12 pill

I'm trying to be better about taking these (I even bought a pill dispenser, so I expect my AARP membership card any time now):

Vegan iron-free multi
Vit D
Iron
Calcium
Turmeric
Maca

Those last two may or may not do anything, but I couldn't find anything that suggested they could be harmful, and if they do help, then that's great.

Oh, and I also use protein powder a couple times a week after hard workouts.
